job ads and job requirements here

when i passed by two branches of mercury drugstore, both had one big job ad posted on the glass wall so pedestrians and passengers passing by can see them.
in the past, job seekers buy the thick sunday edition of the three philippine broadsheets (manila bulletin, philippine daily inquirer and philippine star) to pore through the classified ads.
then came the internet and online recruitment sites like jobstreet and jobsdb were born.
of course, you still see simple "Wanted: Helper" signs hanging at small businesses.
the mercury drugstore job ad was looking pharmacy assistants, cashiers, and customer service assistants.
applicants are required to bring their transcript of records, resume, 1x1 ID picture and one valid ID.
that part still hasn't changed.
i don't know, however, if they still administer tests like IQ, vocabulary, numerical, etc.
how are jobs advertised where you live? have they changed through the years?
what are you required to bring?
did you also have to take tests?

Since we live in the same country then there's nothing I can add more. And yes we still give IQ tests for applicants.

Well practically we both have the same set up since we are on the same country. Due to the advent of the internet and technology, many things have change. There is however one thing that I have noticed that is quite unique, some people are called by phone and are offered jobs. I myself had been offered a job thru telephone to work for a call center. But I politely declined since I have a present job and I love my work.

if you're still happy where you are, then maybe it's not meant to be. but it still feels good when a job is offered to you even when you're not looking because someone remembered your track record and recommended you.

It depends on your skill area. Small business still go for such posters with bold writing as in the picture. Skilled people go to job sites like Monster and Naukri.com. But if are planning to switch at higher posts, you have to go through professional consultants and referral. Sites like Linkedin come handy at such times. We also have job classifieds in our regular newspapers.

true because there are always so many applicants. or you do get accepted, you don't make it past the training period.

I personally hate it, most has nothing to do with job. They just like to make people feel small is what I think. I hope your country does not do that.

I certainly haven't looked for jobs for years and years. All jobs seem to have different requirements. In teaching, one has to be certified from an accredited university, have computer skills, turn in a graduate transcript from the university, and pass an interview with the principal and then superintendent of schools. Our older son had to graduate law school at the top of his class and from an Ivy League school.

Local businesses who want to hire local residents just post such a sign; or sometimes they post it in a local facebook group.

Sometimes I'm thinking if economy is getting stronger in our country. Many construction company has the problem of hiring more construction workers.

Jobs can be anywhere friend. Online newspapers or as you directly in the window.
Temporary job agencies as well as job fairs held anywhere.
Jobs are plentiful.
Each position has different requirements.
Employers are free to define those as they wish but not to discriminate according to the law.
And you only need your social security card and identification as well as 1-9 status proof. Legality in the country.

@hereandthere Yes one has to be in the USA legally, hold legal status. If born here, no worries, if not one has to apply for a green card..there are many requirements for it. Years do not apply, it is certain requirements.

The province and the city's PESO (Public Employment Service Office) here conducts job fairs every now and then to help jobseekers find employment and invite big companies like SM to come over for their manpower requirments. Sometimes, employment for overseas jobs are included too.
