Why should you forgive someone when you think they should not be forgiven?

Why is it important to forgive someone that does not deserve forgiveness? How does this affect our spiritual walk? Would this type of behavior be in line with God's grace and mercy, for us? And lastly why is it so hard to forgiven when we think it is not warranted? i.e. I can forgive but I can't forget what does that mean" do you forgive or not?"

sometimes people will say they forgive just to make the issue go away when they have not and will not forgive or forget. I think most people enjoy having some measure of drama in their lives. And often times grudges can take the place of not having to examine ones own short comings.

When you have wondered about all of that then the first thing you do is accept that you are a human being. You are not perfect. You are liable to make mistakes. This is you finding in you your humility. The second thing you do is accpet / realize that you are not to do anything because it is expected of you. Especially not to gain any favours from God or expecting any rewards. You do because you genuinely want to without expecting anything in return. This is you finding in you your selflessness. Forgiveness comes on its own when you find in yourself the virtues but by then you might come to realize who are you or anyone else to give or ask forgiveness?

To free yourself from that anger, we need to forgive them but not forget what they have done..

As for me, I will always forgive...If our God who is above all, forgives...then who are we not to forgive others also... I am a sinner and have mistakes in life, if they don't forgive me...It's there choice...My choice is to follow God's teachings...and forgive up to seventy times seven...

To forgive is to give peace of mind to us too. But I don't forget as well, it means that I don't trust the person as much as I used to.

@Ayhari Because it's easier to forgive but not to forget. And not forgetting only means learning a lesson.

Everybody deserves a second chance as they say. And it is hard to have an enemy or someone who has issues with you.

I prefer to forgive, forget and move on. I don't want to carry on with a baggage. It would hurt me and would harm me the most. So for my own good I prefer to do so.

You must forgive and forget what happened to start again without remorse, never step and ready, is left to forget and clean your heart, that's forgiveness.
