My Issue With Colin Kaerpernick and Nike, it's the approach, not the issue itself.

So, I'm not going to step into the ring on the issue that Colin Kaepernick is protesting, instead I am going to take the stance that I think he is doing it in a very selfish way. I'm not so sure he is 100% behind the issue. He never brought it up until during the preseason that he was struggling as a quarterback and was at risk of getting released by the 49'ers. To put more pressure on them not to release him, he established this "stance". My question is did he just discover that issue? I doubt that he did. So, why wasn't he taking a "stance" during the year he went to the Super Bowl. The answer is that he did this for the convenience of making it risky for the 49'ers to cut him. Now he can claim they cut him for his "stance" instead of for the real reason they cut him is that they believe he is a much below average NFL quarterback based on his recent performance since that Super Bowl year.

I’m from the UK so my knowledge on the NFL is pretty limited. From your post I do understand your scepticism.Though he is the only one who really knows why he is doing this. It is possible his views have developed other time and that is why he took a stand when he did maybe we should give home the benefit of the doubt.
