How long do you want to live?

Yesterday at 12:10 am, my Grandpa passed away. He was 88. I can say he has lived a full life. He was a pet lover. He was a good trainer of different types of animals -- pig, chicken, cat, etc. He can train a chicken to stop when crossing the road. He loves taking a duck for a walk (instead of a dog). He had won championships in pet shows. As far as I can remember it was his pig that won the championship. He didn't have any sickness except that his kidney shrank because of old age. Complications occurred when his kidney failed. I know that going home is the best for him 'coz he was in pain after he got his bone fractured when he accidentally fell on the floor. He could not get an operation because his body won't be able to handle it. So all we can do is to give him painkillers which sadly no longer work with him. The parting was peaceful and in good timing though. We were able to give him some tribute ceremony before he died. All his children from abroad came home for this event. We were able to thank him for all the things he did for the family. The event was heart-warming and the messages tear-jerking. I know he is in a better place now. 88 years is a long journey for me. How about you? How long do you want to spend your life?

If reach the age of 65 years that is already amazing, adding more years would be bonus.

I agree. Life is short. To be given an opportunity to live longer than 60 is a blessing.

@ilocosboy May I ask you a question, if you don't mind? What if you die today, are you 100% sure you are going to heaven?

I don't want to be a burden of my family when I would no longer able to do things independently. If I were to choose, sixty five is ideal for me.

@athaness I already witnessed it with my parents. Although, I did not consider taking care of them a burden, I must admit it's not easy but no regrets over it. Being able to be there the times they needed you most is the best thing we can do.

That is everyone's fear -- to be a burden. On the other side, our loved ones would not also want to see their relatives enduring pain.

@ZedSmart That is very good of you. I'd do the same if I'd been in your situation.

Belated condolences. You all look good in your family photo. I can't figure out if that's you or your sister to the left of your grandpa but you/she looks like that new GMA actress Kyline Alcantara(I'm not exactly sure of the name hehehe). Your grandpa does not look that old.

@athaness Oh so it's really you who looks like that actress hehehe! So you're three girls with one boy in the family. Your brother looks very much like your father.

@sunrisefan We are actually two girls and one boy. The lady in brown is my mother. The one behind my grandfather is my grandmother :) They say my brother is a carbon copy of my dad.

I am the one on the right. The one in pink. :) I am not familiar with actresses' faces. I would assume she's pretty haha :) Thanks though. My grandpa was very active. He wakes up early, takes a walk with his pet as early as 5 am. He was really strong. He wanted to teach me judo even in his state. When he twisted my arm to show me an example of his sport, I thought my arm would break. :)

I'm sorry to hear about your grandfather. I'm sure he must have led a very fulfilling life. It's really sad to hear of people passing away but age is our enemy. What to do? I wish to lead a long life so that I can see all my children get married and to see my grandchildren get married too but then I'm not immortal. One day I will die. I always feel that 74 is nice age for me to see my Maker.

Rapture seems cool huh. I would like to see it myself as well. Hopefully with some cultivation, I can be as powerful and wise like the wise entities.

He is. Our comfort is that we know he is in heaven now. He has a testimony that he received Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. That makes his life complete.

My expressions of condolences and love reaching out to you and your family. You must miss him so much. I've been reading a book, called "A Woman in a Million" by Monica Wood. She was 104 in the story, Fiction novel based on the 104-year old woman at the time the book was written. I want to live as long as 120++ years if our Creator gives me and my husband many more years from now-- a full life of happiness and wisdom. :

Thank you. Yes, we do. Why not. They say that when you grow old, the mind remains strong. So you would feel the same as when you are on your 20s. It was just the body that grows old. Well, that's what I hear. :)

Good that he is now in a place where there are no more pain. I guess I would want to have a full life too but I just do not want that my body would start to fail and make me suffer. I think I would want to die in peace with love ones around and not putting anymore burden on them of my passing.

You seemed to have missed your brother that much. I have lost a cousin who is only 26 years old and we missed her. I still could not believe she was already gone. Well, we will have a grand reunion in heaven someday :)
