Well folks, it looks as if NC is in a direct path for Hurricane Florence. All over my area of the state people are going crazy and fighting for bottled water at the grocery stores and club stores. The gas lines are long and of course, some places are trying to gouge customers for that gas. Most places have sold out of bottled water and bread. So far there has been fights seen at Walmart, Sam's Club and a local chain Food Lion over water.
I won't be around much today. I have to go get some candles and a few other items. I promise, I will not be fighting over water in the aisles of my local grocer. Tomorrow I hope to be back here full steam.

@FourWalls
Disasters are horrible and brings out the worst in people. Stores get empty with people storing up on things to make sure they have enough of what need to survive whatever they are deaing with what is coming their way.

@Hannihar We were very lucky. The stores did get swamped with people buying non-perishables and ice and such.

When people are scared they will want to make sure they have enough if they will be inside a long time.

I can't remember what part of NC you're in, but we're 90 miles west of the coast, in between the ocean and Raleigh. We're hoping to be able to stay home and getting prepared, but can leave if we need to. Yeah, the stores are crazy, but haven't seen any fights. Yet. Stay safe and keep praying.

@1creekgirl We live in a little town called Bunnlevel which is between Raleigh and Fayetteville on 401. We might have some flooding but we will almost certainly have a power outage. My neighbor told us that our house had water up to the steps during Hurrican Matthew in 2016. So we are a bit worried about the water. When we moved last year we had to transfer electric from South River EMC to Duke/Progress Energy. Duke/Progress energy concentrates on the larger areas such as Raleigh and Cary first and the smaller rural areas (like ours) are last. Our neighbor also told us that they were without power for 21 days during Matthew.

Can the storm destroy the water system that people are in such a need for bottled water ?
Im sure the main pipes are made of steal and are strong. Isn't it?
What is NC ?
I hope there will be no casualties, and all of the citizens will stay safe. Some people dream of a big house, they save money to build it, no one thinks about a possible storm ever...
Listen to the safety tips from the authorities, I hope they have some experience from the past.

@stringer321 The flooding can cause the water system to become contaminated in certain areas. Especially, if there are breaks in any lines and such. Anyone who is on well water will need to store the bottled water in case the power goes out.

I hope you will be safe from all those nasty storms that seem to be hitting the east coast these days.
I've taken the stance that instead of buying bottled water I'd simply store water that I get via my Pur water filter, I have a couple dozen glass containers of water which hopefully I won't be needing anytime soon.

@rebelann That is a good idea to use your filter and glass containers.
