Spirit of loved one.

Last night when i woke up for loo and just after switching off my washroom light i felt some one of female silhouette sitting just few inches away from my bedroom with her back towards me.As first reaction my adrenaline surged up and i froze not even able to reach my bed. i had hunch that the shadow was just going to bend her face towards me and seeing my reaction would decide what to do with me. As soon i gathered courage and decided to switch on my night lamp i heard the rattling on my window and a sound as if some has just closed the door behind and moved out.I did not budge but i saw the shadow was not there now but still the density of darkness was different from other parts of the room -some sort of cloud was there. In few seconds i suddenly heard my grand maa spoke to me :"Dard ho raha hain"("I am feeling pain").I shrank and yelled just moving in the direction the sound coming from and no one was there.Both my daughter and wife woke up and lit the lamp .My daughter started crying and neighbor's Dog broke to incessant barking. My Mom rushed to our room to inquire.I told them what i saw.They shrugged off that i must had a nightmare.To ease them i agreed and assured them it must be some frightful dream better go to bed and sleep. In few minutes they were fast asleep again and i could manage to sleep only after sunrise. In the morning my Mom reminded me that today was my Grandmaa 35th anniversary and she also mentioned, beside other things about her, that she was in immense pain of cancer during her last days.This spooked me further and it is past midnight now and i am afraid of sleep. Can any one suggest me what I should do right now ? Did you ever have such encounter?Do you believe in spirit ?
