Pit Bulls - Love them or hate them?

I am a proud pit bull owner. Over the years breed specific legislation has made life tough for my dog and I. Apartments are hard to rent for bully breed owners and sometimes people are just plain afraid of my dog! I was just wondering what people think of the breed. Love them or hate them?

I like pit bulls because they're so big and cool dog to be with, but I'm afraid of pit bulls especially when I saw them barking and their saliva is going out from the dog's mouth. Pitbulls are best protection dogs since they can guard you, and they also have the ability to do "bite lock" it means, they'll never leave biting you unless they're done doing their job or protecting his or her owner

I used to own a pit myself. She loved me and protected me until she had babies. Her mother instinct/pit bull addititude kicked in and she attacked in defense and they put her down. Plus her babies, when I first got her the previous owners abused her. So we had to put her in intensive obedient classes. Show love and understanding.

They are like any other dog, some are born alphas and tend to try to lead while others are born betas and tend to follow. The pitties I have know have mostly been sweeties and very loving with their families including the family kitties. I know there are some pitties that are just plain aggressive but that can be managed if the owners know to socialize them early and get them the proper training .... ok wait, it's not the dog that needs training it's the owners that need to be trained as to how to properly raise an aggressive pup.

I do not hate them, nor love them. I know that they can become aggressive if they feel in danger, as any other animal, the difference is that they are powerful enough to kill a man.

I don't love them or hate them...wouldn't personally own one mainly due to them being a banned breed over here (American Pit Bull). From what I know about dog breeds pit bulls were among a few breeds actively bred to fight...this natural aggression has been bred into them through generations for maybe a couple of hundred years. Saying that though, modern socialisation techniques make them not much more likely than any other dog to be aggressive to people or other dogs...it is down to the owner and that is where the current fault for their reputation lies in my opinion. You can't own certain breeds of dog without proper socialisation training or else their natural traits are more likely to surface. I can't own a dog at the moment as I don't have the space or time to look after one properly. If I could I'd love to own a rottweiler, akita or a wolf hybrid
