The best part is that it is not contagious. Kerala is going through a tough phase now. Hope that things get back to normal soon. Is there a preventive measure for that?/

It is Rat fever, which does not related with rat biting or never caused due to rat bite. It happens due to the contamination of urine (of rats) through water. The recent floods are the major reason for this outbreak.
People must take precaution especially on drinking water and also water used for different purposes.

We also have the problem with rats but its their urine so dangerous for us. The disease called leptospirosis is when a cut or wound exposed to water with the urine of rats.
