Hello, everyone! I live in Rostov-on-Don. This weekend, we celebrate my city's birthday. So many events have been prepared, and we are going to visit some of them.
As for an ordinary day off, some people prefer to stay at home and rest calmly, while others enjoy visiting malls, exhibitions, concerts. I also prefer to stay at home during the daytime and go out to a good public place in the evening. What is an ideal day off for you?

On my day off, I prefer to stay at home. I don't like going shopping, though I have to.

We buy food in a mall 3 times a month: the 1st, 10h, 20th day of the month. It helps much We only buy bread and milk when necessary in a local shop

I have no idea what Rostov looks like. I would have liked to see a photo of your city.
I doubt that there there are many (if any) myLot members who have a clear idea where Rostov-on-Don is. Maybe you could give a hint.
You haven't mentioned how old Rostov has become and who founded it. What is the prevailing architectural style? How many inhabitants does the city have?

@MashaVickina Thank you for the elaborate answer. I think all this should be incorporated in the post proper. You mustn't forget that the majority of the members knows next to nothing about geography and history of other countries. (Many do not even know much about the geography and history of their own country).
When the name of your city is always combined with 'on-Don', one can assume that there are other cities with the same name with which it could be mixed up. Where are these?

I am glad that you are interested in my city) Well, Rostov-on-Don is located in the south of Russia, on the border of Europe and Asia, near the confluence of the Don River to the Sea of Azov. It is a city of military glory and is called "The gates of the Caucasus."
Rostov is also called "The port of three seas." It connects the trade routes of Central Russia with the Black, Mediterranean and Caspian seas.
The population of Rostov is a bit more than one million people. It was founded in 1749 when the Russian Empress Elizaveta Petrovna signed the Decree. (269 years ago). We celebrate the Day of the City on the 3rd weekend of September (but actually, on Sunday). Today, Rostov is one of the largest megacities of my country. It is a political, economic, cultural and scientific center of the south. By the way, our zoo is one of the largest in Europe.
As for the weather, it is cold in winter (up to -25 C) and hot in summer (up to +40 C).
Many people believe that there is no definite architectural style in Rostov. But I can distinguish the following: Russian classicism, eclecticism, and modernism of the modern period.
I am not sure which photo to choose, but here is one of the main streets, Bolshaya Sadovaya. The photo was taken in 2015 before the New Year.

My favorite day off is Saturday because that is our Sabbath. I can just relax with no phone, no TV or no computer. If it is nice can sit on the porch with my cat and read.
