Why are children so mean?

We have some neighbours with children. And a small cat that loves people. The neighbour brought his kid here, in our yard. I saw the kid hitting the kitten. And the kitten stayed. She didn't even run. She isn't afraid of anything. But I wonder who taught that kid to hit kittens. He tossed the kitten again and again. I hate to see such things.

Parents should teach their children. A child's behaviour is " sometmes " a reflection of upbringing.

@TheHorse that is most often the case and worst if the parents are not only not sweet to animals and children but are actually cruel.

I have a hunch that this child's parents are not always sweet to animals. Or their own children.

You are right. In this case the parent denied everything and said I am a liar. I saw what he did. He got upset because I saw this.

That is bad, but one thing about it, this same child will do that to the wrong cat someday! A child sometimes has to learn the hard way, when a cat finally gets tired of it and scratched the tar out of them, they'll learn.

The problem is deeper, though. Why is a young child abusing an animal in the first place?

@TheHorse So true, you do make a point. Did anyone try to stop the child from doing this? This could be a sign of a troubled child.

It's true. His father was upset because I saw this. He said it's impossible. But I am sure he knows. I hope he will not bring his child again.

I would have gone out to stop that kid. That is horrible.

I didn't know what to do. I talked with his father and he said I am a liar. He got really upset.

@dya80dya Oh no. I am sorry if the Father also attacked you.
