Hi folks! I am a guitar beginner player so I really wanna know about something here which I can't actually find anywhere. Can someone there explain me or suggest me a link to understand what a guitar pedal is? Aren't Amps only sufficient for guitar playing, does pedals have a special effect? Is there a series of pedals? Do I have to own more than one pedal for playing guitar with good effects, is that called a pedal board? Oh God, I am unable to understand it but I really need a help. And last but not the least, is it portable enough to carry every Sunday to my Church or is it heavy to carry? Please help. Your help is much appreciated. Thanks.

Is there a reason why you are starting with an electric guitar?

Hey Shifa, it's all about the kind of sound you want to get. Sometimes, a clean sound of the guitar might be enough, but other times you might want to add a more interesting effect to your guitar, more distortion, delay, a different tone, etc. Since you are talking about playing at church, I've found out an interesting article on the best sounds and techniques for worship guitar players: There are also virtual amps you can use by connecting your guitar to a computer, these alternatives can be cheaper than the physical ones. You can find more info here: https://www.getthatprosound.com/the-10-best-guitar-amp-plugins-in-the-world

You can check out this link to know about the effects of a guitar pedal
Guitar effects pedals come in many different shapes and sizes, but these 16 are the ones every guitar player should have in their arsenal.
