I gave my dog a bath today- what a workout!

It's common knowledge that most dogs don't like to take a bath.
Mine is no different!
Sophie is mostly an outside dog, an Australian Shepherd mix. She weighs about 40 lbs.
It's been awhile since she had a bath. I decided to tackle the job myself today while it was really warm outside. Usually my husband does it or we do it together.
The only way I can hope to bathe her is if I put the lead on her and attach it to a secure post. But when she realized what was going on, she ran around my legs and almost tripped me a few times.
I got to her to calm down and obey, but only for a few minutes at a time. Then she'd jump up and try to escape again.
I just kept talking to her in a calm voice. I finally accomplished the task, but sheesh, what a pain!
If you have a dog, how does he/she handle bath time?

Good for you for succeeding. it is very hard to let our pets know we are trying to take care of them and they still do not understand. I have a Sophie too but my Sophie is a cat. I will show you her picture here.

Thank you @domiwla. I suppose you would! We had several German shepherds when I was growing up and most of them were very big.

@BloggerDi They are very polite, at least those who have touched me, only one has been annoying but it is not pure race.

I wonder if I´ll be able to bathe Luna in summer. I had do take her to a girl that bathes dogs last month, but I have not spent so much in a beauty parlor for myself. Luna does not like water either.

Thanks for sharing about your dog @marguicha. Pet grooming services are expensive here too!

@BloggerDi I sent Luna for a bath mainly because I wanted her nails cut. After the girl charged me, she told me that nails did not get cut in this type of dogs as they have a vein that bleeds.

Thanks @theend. Yes, I let her come in after her difficult time of getting bathed against her will.

@BloggerDi At least it agrees to let you bathe for it.
