When I was traveling in Bangkok I came across a board game cafe. It’s a coffee shop that allows you to play board games and have food at the same time. The good thing for the owner is the customers pay for the time played, as well as, the drinks and food.
Growing up I didn’t expect that there are so many board games that exist. I only knew chess, checkers, snake and ladders, scrabble, and monopoly. The board game cafe is a very nice concept, I plan to invest in one in the future.
Have you been in one? What other board games you know?

When I was in grade school, there was a place across from our school called Student Center. Any student from any school could enter and hang out free of charge by simply presenting a student ID. It was mostly a Christian library with religious reading materials, but it also had a lot of board games. Most kids went there for the games, but since it was like a library, making noise was a no-no. I thought it was a great place and was happy about being able to go there for free.
I remember being fond of games that involved words and English vocabulary such as Scrabble and Boggle (sometimes called Word Factory.) English is not my first language, but it was my best subject in school so I liked word games because I did well in them. I also liked a game called Mastermind, which was a guessing game. It is played by only two players, but sometimes my friends and I played it one versus everyone else. It's hard to explain the rules, so I'll just attach an image of that.
My husband's friend has a vape shop where people also hang out, and when the shop was new we gifted this friend with some board games for his patrons to enjoy, including my husband's favorite, Game of the Generals. I watched it being played once.
There are so many themed cafes these days, and I might have seen a board game cafe in my neighborhood. I'm just not too fond of going to themed cafes because they are often full of young people who are there just for the pictures they will post on social media. This makes me miss the Student Center mentioned earlier. Nobody had cell phones then and everyone just played together and had fun.

I love playing scrabble and boggle! Or any word games in fact. My favourite opponent is my dad. He’s very good with words that when I win against him, once in a blue moon, I feel really smart.
I do share and understand your sentiment about the youth being all for the show and the fame and losing track of what matters most in life which is friends, family, interaction, and communication. But I do believe board game cafes can help to turn it around.

It was. It’s very complicated but it’s very fun too. It’s one of my new favourites. It’s called five tribes. The goal is to own as many white and yellow meeples (plastic people), trees, and castle by the end of the game.

There is a lot of board game cafes here too, but I have never been to one. But I have this thought of visiting next weekend with my partner in crime. We need to entertain / make ourselves happy because we have been feeling so stressed out lately.
