Recycle or Buy Something New ?

People are becoming more practical nowadays and Christmas is almost 3 months away.
Would you consider recycling or re purposing empty and clean cans and bottles and turn them into an all season decor ?
If you were to choose, re purpose empty cans and bottles or would you rather buy a gift to give as a present this Christmas ?

This may sound weird but, my teenage daughter has somehow inspired me to be into arts, but, unfortunately i haven't been that enthusiastic. I love looking at finished products of crafty people in dollar store crafts, but looking at them, I feel those are really challenging for me.
I would love to finish one and show it to my daughter and hopefully she will be happy with what I will be able to accomplish :-)

@Nevena83 I would like my daughter to be impressed with what I will be doing, specially that she as an artist compared to me :-)
I am looking around for simple art and crafts to do this week :-)

There are materials good to recycle but some of them are more practical to buy new one.

if you were to buy a new one would you still go for something similar or totally different from what you originally plan to give or make as a Christmas gift or any time gift ?
