What is the one thing that you could not live without

Lets face it, we are all spoiled compared to the olden days. Sometimes I think we were better off in the past. I get so upset when I see my grandson spending so much money on his cell phone. I tell him there are cheaper ones but like all the kids, they want to have what their friends have.
In this day and age a cell phone is a necessity. If the car breaks down or you get stuck on the road somewhere you need to be able to reach someone. For the people that live in the city it is probably not necessary but in the country, a phone is a must.
There are a lot of cooking items I could do without but I would be lost without my computer or tv. Funny I say that as growing up we did not have a tv until I was 7 years old. I survived though.

@JohnRoberts I have to agree with you on this one. Air is pretty important. I mean, you can't breathe without it, and if you can't breathe, you can't live.

Same as @moffittjc I cannot say that there is something that I could not live without, but I know it would be hard to live without tap water in the house.

@ramapo17 So you will not miss tap water if you had to go out to a well to get the water to shower or to take your bath or to flush your toilet? I know that this is something I would miss, because I have experienced being in an old house with a well, it was only for a week, but believe me that no water in the house is no fun.

Anna, you bring up a good point that many people don't think about, or they take for granted. Having clean, running water at your fingertips is something we assume will always be there for us. There are millions of people in this world that don't have the luxury of having tap water at their disposal, or any clean water at all.

I don't think there is anything I couldn't live without, but there would be some things I would probably miss a whole lot. Coffee being one of them! haha But my laptop and my phone would be high on my list.
I probably couldn't live without the ability to read. I love reading, and I read all the time. My biggest fear is losing my eyesight to the point where I can no longer read a book. I don't look forward to that day. Fortunately, if I ever get to the point where my eyesight is too poor to read, I can switch to audiobooks.

@ramapo17 It's true Nancy...don't open your eyes under water or you'll go blind! haha

Funny you should say the @moffittjc as I was always afraid of going blind someday. I use to drive my parents crazy with that. Every time I would get my head under water I would ask them if I was going to go blind.

I couldn't live without a lot of things. Even a power outage send my mood in the dumps.

Probably many things. As we become exposed to more and more inventions and get used to them they become more of what we can't live without. Of course, before these things came into people's lives they did live without them didn't they?

@BearArtistLady Those were great little TVs. They served us at the time.

@ramapo17 I remember our 7 inch screened television! Everyone had a wrinkle in their middle!!! We were really living when we got a "big" screen television! That was back when a big screen was about 15 inches. Now big screen is over 60 inches! Father worked as a television repairman and it was amazing how many calls he would make to people who couldn't live without their little 7 inch screen wonder! I'm remembering the old black and white televisions as I am watching the reruns of The Lone Ranger from the 40's & 50's.

@ramapo17 Cellphone is necessary, but I feel I can live without it.I have yet to get used to always having my phone in my pocket. The one thing I can't live without is books.

@Shivram59 Funny thing is I don't use it much but I do check it for weather and traffic and to see if I have any messages. I don't always call people back. If I am not in a quiet place or I am busy I will call back at a later time. I never drop everything to answer the phone. If there is an emergency, they would leave a message.

Money. That's it for me. I could not live without money. The rest of it is immaterial to me. Of course, so is money probably. But at least with money I can have whatever I really do want...which is not that much...which is probably why I have money.

I need my computer. Yes, I would be lost without it and wouldn't know what to do with myself during the day.

I don't need a fancy 1000 dollar plus smart phone I rather have one I can replace without much cost in case something happens and it break. I can do without a TV but today many need a computer especially if one is job hunting since most businessse rquire now that you apply on line.

I’d have to say, mobile phone, Wi-Fi, my maintenance medicines, and other things.
