My hubby and I , have been lately taking honey with lemon. He does it in the morning when he wakes up. He would drink a glassful of bit warm water, then take in one tablespoon of honey with drops of one squeezed lemon. While for me, I would put 3 tablespoons of honey with lemon, and add water and drink it. It’s so delicious. The honey with lemon, I premixed it in a big bottle. I put in half of the bottle of my honey, then the pure lemon juice of about 20 lemon or kalamansi in Tagalog, then mix them and taste if it is a bit sour and sweet. I put the bottle with the mixture in the fridge. For my husband, it helps him lose weight, and his tummy is now a bit smaller. For me, I like it taken at night because it makes me sleepy after an hour or more . So, I get more or less enough number of hours of sleep. And I sleep well. Well, there are a lot of health benefits of taking honey every day. Hubby and I are happy we discovered this healthy habit of ours, every day. Note: Picture is from google

Let me suggest this for a healthier consumption of honey. Take a table spoon of honey before drinking water as soon as you wake up. Don't swallow it. Let it stay in your tongue and allow the honey to slowly drip down your throat. It was suggested to me by a friend healer who said that it's the best way to use honey to detox our body. Not only that, it relieves the sinus too, cures asthma, and kills the bacteria that could cause cold.

Wow, really! You see, I drink at least two glasses of warm water upon waking up. So, I will take it before I drink it? Do you know if warm water will be good to take after honey?

I'm honey before and I stop because I was too lazy to get up and take it. Some patients in the center use this remedy if they feel like having a cold or flu. I think I will go back to honey and lemon.

You can do what I am doing. At least, it would be easier if you have already premixed them already.

@JustBhem And does it avert the cough and cold from getting worse? How many days of taking it before it does that?

Thanks for this share. Honey is always good but the pure quality is a bit expensive, lots of adulteration happen - siva

Welcome. Here, a bottle ( a medium size) of honey costs 150 to 170 pesos or US$3.40. Indeed, some of those honey in supermarkets are adulterated indeed. Here we buy it from local vendors who gets them from those who cultures honey from bees.

@SIMPLYD That is nice to hear. Manuka Honey is a standard product - 500 gm costs 30 US dollars. I used to have a cheaper product but it turned out to be just sugar added to honey - siva

Our daughters in NZ sent us a few bottles of honey, lemon & ginger which I drink at the onset of cough or colds which easily vanish after a day or two of drinking the mixture with water. I put in 2 or 3 spoonfuls of the honey, lemon & ginger in a glass of cold water. Sometimes I just drink it even without the signs of cough or colds as refreshment.

Hmm, maybe I can add ginger too, to my honey with lemon. I don't need to buy those because they are too expensive. Good for you because they are just being sent to you by your daughter.

Yes, there are fake ones. There are ways of knowing if the honey is fake. If you put the bottle of honey in the ref and it solidifies, that is fake. We also try its being genuine by dropping a drop on a glass of water then when it goes down solid or not scattered, that is genuine.

It has health benefits. Wow, honey plus lemon I think it's awesome. I used to drink hot lemonade though with honey. I think that it's not the pure honey. Do you have supplier of pure honey in your place?

There are sellers who get it from Sorsogon or from those who cultures honey. It is 170 pesos - 200 per bottle of gin. We test if its genuine by dropoping some honey in a cup. If it doesn't spread but drops solidly, it is pure. Besides, it is so effective to me and hubby.

@SIMPLYD I watched it on TV and they're featuring the honey farm somewhere in Luzon and I think that it's a bit expensive because they sell the pure honey in a small jar at 300-400 if my memory served me right.

It's good when couples reinforce the healthy habits of each other. My husband's new health habits revolve around the use of herbs and spices. He is particular pleased with the health benefits of turmeric. I'm just happy I like the taste so I don't mind using it in our recipes. He even puts it in his tea. I have not gone that far yet. But I'm OK with cooking with this spice. I love it in rice and soups.
Turmeric is an old Indian spice with a powerful medicinal compound called Curcumin. Here are the top 10 health benefits of turmeric/curcumin.

Yes, here too, they sell the turmeric tea. Some people are into it indeed. What I have is the turmeric rub. When my toes hurt from being crushed by my shoes, I rub it with that. After an hour the pain will be gone already.
