The exemplary discipline that I saw

I have a belief that whatever be our culture, nation, region, religion or ideology we ought to praise good things of others. In our day to day life, I see people unnecessarily honking on the roads- even when not required. However I remember a case in Camberley on England in May 2006, where there was a long road jam on a red light. And guess what - zero, absolutely zero honking! Now isn't that an exemplary discipline, something to be cherished. I wonder why people can't behave like that elsewhere? Any opinions?

I can't understand why people would honk. What good can it possibly do?

@JudyEv and the worst part is that when we have red light and vehicles are standing one behind the other; still some stupid folks keep on honking. Do they nkithink that their honking will clear up traffic? Or make them fly? Honking should be used only if absolutely necessary to avoid accidents, or for some driving things like overtaking, turning on a busy road etc.

@Friendlypink yes but people are going away from peaceful practices.

People are in a hurry and don't have patience to wait for any one. Laws and rules would not help until and unless we are ready to change our attitude.

@Sreekala yes unless we are not willing, any number of rules and laws cannot help.

Every afternoon about 5-6PM, you should see how irate drivers behave around on the roads around here. I often thought to myself, 'shame on you!'
