Tiny dresses for a tiny doll

While Vince is in Nepal for three weeks I’ve been doing some spring cleaning and decluttering. In the process I came across two little crochet sets that I made a long time back. The little dresses are about 3” (7.6 cms) from top to bottom and the items have all been made to fit a tiny doll.
Someone who has a collection of dolls asked me to crochet some outfits. These were extras that I did just because I could. I didn’t have a pattern but I had the loan of a doll for a week or two so I could get the sizing correct. One of the things to watch was that I could actually get the dress over the doll’s head as the head is usually quite large and of course solid.
I’m tempted to put them up for sale on Ebay but I’ll never make any more so perhaps I’ll keep them a while longer. I’ve never been into dolls but I thought these looked quite cute.

@flapiz If you want to crochet you need a crochet hook. They come in different sizes so take the yarn with you to the shop and hopefully the assistant will help you choose the right size hook for your yarn. If you want to knit you need a pair of knitting needles and they come in different sizes too.

@JudyEv Did you use the expensive cotton thread, made special for crocheting? I used to do a lot of this (only doilies or table cloths, never dresses) and went through them special threads like mad. I didn't pay for them though, someone asked me to do them.

Thsi reminded me of my school days those primary level schooling. While I was school we had a session named Sepcial Programme Work (SPW) in this the main things we used to make was dolls and dress apart from other things like small houses, flowers, boats, vehicles etc. Later, in higher grade this session was not allowed. But those which small dresses we made for dolls and other items were also kept for sale.

Yes, I still have them. My eyesight probably couldn't cope with such fine work now.

They are cute. You could frame and hang them so you see them.

I knew a lady who collected dolls. She had her spare bedroom covered in dolls.

Indeed they are so cute, I'm sure many visitors in ebay will be interested in owning one of them.
