Deepali, a colleague, came to me for a blood pressure check up last evening. It is almost always on the high as she is overweight. The indicator pointed 90 diastolic and 140 systolic. I suggested she should take a brisk walk daily. She took it up eagerly. She found a companion and soon went out to the village road. They returned after half an hour, perspiring and happy. This morning, she was up at 5 and the duo started the walk in 5 minutes. I am sure they will feel still better in a week and they will be happy to continue their exercise to maintain their health.

I mow grass, I lift lumber and the wood from trees. I tote 5 gallon buckets of water to the dogs. I clean house and I have a big house.
And..... no matter what I walk one hour a day.

That is wonderful that she took your advice. I'm sure it will benefit them both greatly. We do very little structured exercise but we are quite active on our little property. I know I should do more but it is hard to get motivated.

@JudyEv It's the regular oval track with the innermost lane at 400 meters. The length increases up to the 9th lane. So roughly, 10 rounds is a little over 4 kilometers :) At brisk walking, I finish my walk in 47 to 49 miuntes.

@JudyEv I do my walk on lanes 7, 8 and 9 as they designate lanes 1, 2 & 3 for runners and 4, 5 & 6 for joggers. I'm disappointed though as some don't follow the rules and jog on our designated lanes.

I have a bad back due to a congenital condition but still try to remain active. Although unable to run I am a big walker. I have a treadmill for that and when the weather is good I walk the boardwalk. I play golf when my back allows and now do a daily Yoga routine to strengthen my back and keep limber.

I walk a lot everyday. These walks are neither brisk walking or leisure walks but I believe it helps a lot in making my blood pressure normal.

@franxav Yes. That's what they have been saying - you have to move a lot and refrain from sitting for a very long time.

Only cardio with brisk walk. It is essential especially when you cross thirty.

That's great to take a walk every day. I like to dance or do kick boxing myself.
