Deciding what you want to do for a living

My boyfriend currently works as an accountant, but he's not really happy with his job. The problem is that he doesn't know what do do for a living. He would actually prefer to work part time, which wouldn't be a problem, except that a lot of companies prefer their employees to work full time.
I feel bad for him, because he's really unhappy at his job and he just doesn't know what he would actually enjoy doing.
How did you decide what you wanted to do for a living? Do you enjoy your job? Do you work part time or full time?

Your boyfriend is lucky because he got the good position in the company, maybe he has other plans that's why he wanted to be part time only.

Oh I get it.
That's the reason I didn't enrol accounting and other office related jobs.

I would love to do any job from home, be it part time or full time.. He should consult someone who can make him reach to his destination..

I quite like my job but it isn't anything I really thought I wanted to do. In fact, it was only a few years ago (in my mid-30s) that I decided what I really wanted to do. If your boyfriend is young, he has plenty of opportunity to make changes. Perhaps thinking about what it is he enjoys doing- eg. is there a hobby he enjoys or something he'd like to learn?
It can be hard to make changes because you could leave one thing for something else and end up hating what you thought you'd love.

He's not saying he doesn't want to work at all. He didn't know he wanted to work part time when he started his job hunt.
I feel like a lot of people judge men for wanting to work part time. If it were me who wanted to do this, I don't think so many people would judge.
