Whenever i'm on Instagram i can't take my eyes off all the dreamy dresses i see there !! There's all kind of dresses, the barbie princess ones with the gown skirts, the mermaidy ones.. i can't help but wonder if people do actually wear these kinds if dresses, in what kind of event can i wear a 5 coats gown skirt ?
Here in morocco, we celebrat birthdays and weddings, but nothing crazy enough to buy one of these.
I'm trying to learn how to sew this kind if dresses, i mastered the skirt, but i'm stuck with the top, i would love to have i lot of these drealt dresses, but isn't it just a waste of time, money and energy ?

I worked for a few years in the events industry in the Philippines, and have been to countless weddings and 18th birthday parties for young ladies called a "debut." These are the two most special occasions wherein a woman might wear a ball gown with a petticoat. The 7th birthday of a child is pretty special as well, and sometimes the celebrations for a girl's 7th birthday can be so extravagant that a ball gown also is fitting.
I have assisted countless brides and debutantes in their ball gowns and petticoats and let me tell you, it is a nightmare to go to the bathroom in those things! I literally had to assist grown women when they used the toilet. These dresses are heavy and bulky, and in Philippine tropical weather they're just plain uncomfortable if you are not in an air-conditioned venue. Also, one is not likely to wear them again after the birthday or wedding. However, wearing them is a personal choice and if a woman wants to wear such a dress, she can.
As for me, I didn't have an 18th birthday party and I wore something super light and comfortable on my wedding day. I wanted to be able to use the bathroom by myself. Attaching a photo of my simple and comfortable wedding dress.
If you can make such ball gowns, then that's great! There's a lot of money in that kind of business. Here in the Philippines, such gowns are also worn in beauty pageants, and we have a lot of those. People here are willing to spend money on gowns for special events and beauty contests and parades, and you as a maker of gowns can either sell or rent them out. If you are going to make gown-making your business, better check your local market.

You look so beautiful !!
You're right, despite how beautiful these dresses are, they can be very unconfortable to wear. I should think about something more practical !
I wish i had places or events to go to wearing these dresses, even if there's no stores that sell them here in morocco.
Thank you so much for sharing i enjoyed reading your response !!

I always liked to wear costumes when I was a child and never had a real chance. I even missed a lot of the "in" garments along my life. If I could, I would use them.

@Babino Halloween is an imported festivity in my country. Children care for it, we never had it when I was young.

To the grocery store .
I remember having a friend who loved those long, flowing ballroom dancing gowns . . . but she said there was nowhere she could wear them to but ballroom dancing events (in which she hadn't gone to in years!).
I suppose you'd have to find some formal event/dinner where you can dress in such lovely dresses!
