Happy Thursday Everyone!
It's a rainy start to this Thursday morning and I'm happy to enjoy a rainy day.
I got up earlier than I usually do, showered, dressed, poured my coffee and decided to sit and read my book for awhile. It's been awhile since I had my coffee and read before actually getting the day started. Since it's rainy the house is on the dark side so perfect for curling up with a good book.
Now I'm here with coffee #2 and ready to see what's happening in the myLot world.
I don't have a lot to do today but the recycling and trash need to go out this evening so I'll go around the house and gather up a few little things that need to get tossed.
I'm busy making a pile of books that we've all read to donate to our local nursing home. When my mom was in rehab 2 years ago they were so happy to receive books for the patients. So, I continue to donate to them even though my mom has passed. It's bittersweet going back there occasionally.
Our local shelter is looking for coats so I have two that I'll no longer wear. Next time I'm out and about I'll have to make sure I remember to bring them.
Other than the daily tidy up, today I need to vacuum and dust.
Then, I have some television shows I want to watch before my daughter comes home from work. We have shows we watch together and others that I like that she isn't crazy about.
So, my friends, what's happening with you today?

I'm hoping to burn some more leaves but they are forecasting showers so we'll see how the weather looks when I'm ready to go down. I've decided we've had our last inside fire so I'm cleaning the tile fire and taking all the wood back to the wood shed. I don't want it on the verandah during the summer in case we have a bushfire.

@Marilynda1225 That's true and from time to time I can't help but brag about the wonderful warmth we'll be experiencing when everyone else is writing about the cold and snow.

Had to go grocery shopping today. You reminded me. I need to check with our local fire department. They collected coats that were passed out locally last year. I might have a few more for them.

@Marilynda1225 I like that they keep it in our area too. Also they are checking income to make sure the ones that need the help the most get it first.

It's that time of year when it's good to donate something warm if you can't use it

I was cleaning up from the holiday weekend and giving my self a time out. My last craft show worked out well even with rain on two of the three days. The sunny day brought the people by masses. So glad it's over. I delivered slate to the stores and since then I've been vegging - doing nothing. I did go to the charity shop and bought some beads, got them washed but was too lazy to put them in the boxes I have. ( I use them on the wire on my art). I guess I should write about this...
I like days that give me time to breathe and relax.

All very pretty beads. I used to do bead canvas years ago where you would put beads on a printed picture similar to cross stitch embroidery. It was tedious but fun to do. Now my eyes wouldn't be able to thread the needle to string the beads. All those beads brought back some nice craft memories for me. Now I stick to crocheting.
Hope you write about your crafting with the beads. I especially like reading about what other people do for crafts and fun (or profit)

@Marilynda1225 I think I have posted a few about my art but I'm not sure, I will look. It started as a hobby and now is done for profit, I make an amazing amount of money now that I have a store in the right place with windows to show off my art. I literately can't keep up at times so I do work every day on my art to keep the stores happy. The canvas with beads sounds interesting - got any photos?

I have already told my myLot friends I did have cataract surgery and it wasn't a “piece of cake” but now three days later all is GREAT! I can't do my water...

It is good that you still donate books there even when your mom is no more. It definitely brings smile to so many people.
You had a perfect start with a book and coffee. I don't remember the last time I had such luxury.

I never realized that most nursing homes have libraries for their patients. Even though many are bedridden or in wheel chairs they can still use their brains to read and get some escape with a good book.

I never thought of donating coats to nursing homes, but I bet they do like them, and books as well.

I donate the books to the nursing home but the coats go to a local shelter. I never thought of asking if the nursing home needed coats. I'm sure the patients can use a coat when they transport them to various doctor appointments etc.

@Marilynda1225 My friend used to collect books and donate them to a prison library project, one he started. It was a nice thing to do, but it got to be a bit much, those books are heavy..and he had no reimbursement for the miles he put in.

It sounds like you are doing a major seasonal purge there between the coats and the books.
I know that whenever I drive past the retirement home that one set of my grandparents lived in, I get sad, but I am less sad years later. And I hope that as time passes you too will feel less sad and remember happy moments. Your Mom must have been quite an amazing lady, I always felt like I knew her from your posts, and even this makes me feel a little melancholy. Can you made the book donation in memory of your Mother, will they allow that and will it help you and perhaps inspire others?

The last time we dropped off books it was both my daughters who did it. I couldn't go back there as it was too painful. It's 2 years this month that my mom passed away and most days it's good but this time of year does make me feel very melancholy. My mom was amazing and gave us plenty of laughs (mostly at her expense).

It's raining here with the remnants of hurricane Michael coming through. I'll probably read some later for my Sunday school lesson. Have a pan of pinto beans cooking and will make some corn bread to go with for our supper. Glad you are able to donate to different places for worthy causes. Have a blessed day

You have reminded me to perhaps get my a** in gear and put the big bag of rice in the shopping cart I have lug it down the stairs and go donate it to the shelter. It is 25 lbs of rice. They can surely use that.
Have a good cozy day Marilyn.
Its blinking cold here wont top 45F today.
