Day 52
Luke 12:13
Luke 12:13 And one of the company said unto him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me.
14 And he said unto him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you?
15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consists not in the abundance of the things which he possesses.
16 And he spoke a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:
17 And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?
18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.
19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
21 So is he that lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
People fight over inheritances every day, and often take the matter to probate court to get the judge to rule over the will of their late relative. Greed is a great motivator when it comes to possessions.
Jesus told the person who came to him to decide the inheritance between him and his brother that he was not the person to go to in such matters. He then showed him by way of a parable what was most important to God. It wasn’t possessions, it was his relationship with his heavenly Father. When he put his focus on God, he would treat everyone with mercy and love.
As Christians, life gets in the way, and we tend to focus on matters close to home and our own needs over those of others. Satan has a way of taking our focus off our neighbor and causing us to take a ‘me’ attitude in everything we do.
You need to take your focus off yourself and your needs, and take care of your neighbor before you take care of your needs. When you do, God will give you everything you need for your life, and you will be rich towards God.
Let’s pray: Father, you know the attitude of my heart. Take my attitude and line it up with your will. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

God is so great. Sometimes I get a little low in the food supply, but the cupboards are never empty. He shows me new ways on how to make food stretch and still share it with others. I am so thankful. I so want to be the best I can for Him. He deserves my best.

Yes, God is good. He never lets my cupboards go completely bare. Yes, he deserves our best. Have a blessed day.
