Being a parent is no joke. Being a single parent is overwhelming and challenging.
My 12 year old is having difficulties in dealing with peer pressure, school, learning and by just being a 12 year old. I am not a perfect person nor trying to be a perfect parent. I have physically disciplined my son years ago and stopped because I know he is getting older now and I understand that he would appreciate it if I talk to him rather than hit him with a belt. Anyway, he is trying his best to do good in school and be responsible. As his mom, I can feel that he is trying his very best. I don't need him to get medals or be #1 in his class or get perfect scores in his exams- I am not demanding that. I always tell him that I all ask is for you to be consistent in focusing what is need to be done in school and be responsible with it by studying. Like write your assignments, projects, be attentive when the teacher is giving instructions or just simply focus. Please limit playing or please stop thinking that everything in life is a game. Online games is temporary. I beg him to take himself out of the idea that online games and youtube videos are the most important thing in life. I have asked him what he wants when he grows up? He answered- with a big smile- A YOUTUBER! Oh well. I wasn't even shocked nor surprise how internet and social media has eaten my son's brain. Considering that he could only use the computer during weekends. How much more if we allow him to use those gadgets every day?! That would be horrifying and stressful. I also understand that he may need to use his time to other things like playing sports or do swimming! But living in a rural area, 2 hours away from the city.. is making it a bit difficult and expensive! I don't have a care and I don't drive. I would like him to enjoy physical and outdoor activities because I know he would love it!
I am just vent out here. I just want to express my thoughts and emotions.
The rain hasn't stop now. I think it will be a gloomy day after a sunny few hours.
How are you mylotters?

@therealmaryyy that's what parents are. We are there for our children even until they're married and have our grandchildren. That's how my parents were to me and in return I am doing it also to my children. Even if I am very tired already from all day work, I need to keep up to teach them on their assignments and help them with their projects...... 24 hours is never enough heheheh...

Being a mother is definitely not easy. I agree with you. Now children are too dependent on the Internet. It's hard for us to keep them from playing mobile phones and computers. Looks like your son is doing well. Thanks to your guidance.

Kids also need some time to channelise their energy but it's great that you no longer beat him.. And being a 12 year kid, it is normal to get into online games.. But it's our job to make them value the importance of real games and real things! Hope, the price thing gets sorted out
