I would like to seek advice from you guys. When is the best time to quit a job? I am no longer happy in my current job. I feel like I'm stuck. I am no longer growing professionally and I always feel so tired. I lost my passion and enthusiasm. However, the salary and company benefits are what's keeping me stay. My family does not want me to quit. Have you been in this situation? What did you do? Should one choose what's making you happy or choose what's making your family happy. Thank you guys.

There always comes a time when you think you're no longer happy with your job but if you give it a little more time, then you'll be able to get over it. I've been in the same company for 32 long years and sure there were times like what you felt. However, I stuck it out and that is why I lasted that long in the company. So did my wife who worked in the same company. I'm sure you know that jobs are not easy to come by. There are lots and lots of people competing for the same job or position. So, when you're there, hold on to it.

@bluestrike You are welcome. Corporate politics is just as bad as politics in government itself. I'm sure I was in a more unhappy situation than you but I stood my ground.

@sunrisefan That's what's happening. I still don't have my promotion which I deserve. I am in situation where I am jealous of my college friends, they are doing great with their profession and still I'm here waiting for a miracle to happen. I'm just waiting for a sign.

Looking back, I personally would have stayed with the job with the most best salary and benefits.
But people like to have work to be enjoyable too.
But if you can find a job that is to your satisfaction, then yes quit when you are ready to. Family does not have to work there, you do, so never mind that, make your own life and choice. This way no regrets later on. Good luck

There are a few factors to consider. What is the economy like in your country? Are there a lot of jobs available? Or are jobs scarce? The best thing to do is not quit until you have a new job, then give your notice. Here you need to give at least a two-week notice when you intend to quit a job. You put the date when you can start on the application and all is good, you're not losing any work time. Or a paycheck.

I was in your position a few years ago wherein I want to quit my job.
If you want to quit your job pls consider this questions:
A. Am I financially stable? If ever it would take too long for.me.to.land a job again.
B. Does the company that I want to apply has the same benefits or more benefits to offer.
C. Am I sure enough that when I transfer to a different company I will be regularize.
D. Am I sure that this will benfit not only me but my family as well.
This will be a lifetime decision if it's for the best go for it.

I'm planning to work abroad. So the decision of leaving my family for their future is making me doubt if it's really a good decision.

Quit when you are longer happy with your present job but make sure to find another one that can support your family.

Even if your family is against it? Should I just be contented with what I have since it's really difficult to find a job in our place.

There's a saying that if you're holding for a job that no longer meets your needs and expectations then let it go. When we work, I think that it's not only the compensation that we after for. For me, it is still important that your contribution is valued and appreciated. Yes, money is important but it's not the only thing that can give us happiness.
