“VERIFY” the card

PayPal has emailed me several times now. I need to verify my debit card because I cannot withdraw my earnings from this site to that card. When my first MYWALLET card was not yet expired, I would withdraw my earnings from that card. When I had it renewed last year, it is not yet verified by PayPal.
I used my LBP card in withdrawing my money from this site. LBP card had its problems too. The card has to be changed because it had no sim card; the new card has it now. Since my LBP card has money in it, it did not need further verification from PayPal.
Then this RCBC debit card. I asked my son why, and he said I have to deposit at least P250 and when PayPal verifies it, the P250 will be given back to me.
I have not yet verified the card, but I don’t think it will prematurely expire. It is because the expiration year is 5 years from last year, but it does not have an outstanding balance of P250.
Do you prefer using debit/credit cards rather than cold cash when you go shopping?

For myself, I prefer cash (I'm less likely to overspend), but as my bank is far away, I do much of my business with my debit card.

@Morleyhunt my other debit card was punched a hole by the bank employee so it is no longer viable for use.

@ridingbet I think yes skimming can be a danger but the odds are lower than that of being mugged in person. I have been mugged in person so I’m scared of carrying too much cash

@flapiz really? so, you should be extra careful when you go shopping and when you bring out your cards for swiping.

i think it is good too, but it is often the security of the person holding the card that should be observed as always. also the skimming usually done by scammers.

Yeah I've already research the RCBC My Wallet and indeed it needed some extra money to be accepted for Paypal. I used to have a debit card but I just used it for the sake of loaning money. I will try to avail for the My Wallet if I have a free time during work days.

the good thing with MYWALLET is that once it is verified, even if it has only P10, it won't deduct already.

You need to have a verified Paypal account before you can send and receive payments. A fee will be deducted from your debit/credit card and it will be refunded after a few days. They will send you a 4-digit code (if my memory serves me right) which you need to input in your account. And as per your question, I prefer using cash when shopping.

that is what i wonder. if i deposit a certain amount in my RCBC card, how will they send the 4-digit code? will it be online? i am not registered on online banking, should they send me an SMS for the code?
the first MYWALLET card, the person in PayPal was so kind enough to verify my account even without the amount deposited.
i have my LBP debit card and that is where i first withdrew my earnings from this site.

@freelancermariagrace i am still confused, sorry. so, i will receive a bank statement showing the 4 digit code? my LBP card did not need verification because it had more than P5k in it. maybe that is the reason?

@ridingbet I think it is in your credit card statement. That’s what I have been reading online.

i agree. i still have to add P250 to my card and check my bill for the 4-digit number to verify the card on PayPal.

i believe many of the grocery and department stores there do have crad readers so debit or credit cards are fine.
