When Do You Start Your Christmas Shopping?

Canada

So, that time of year has started again where I keep thinking about how I'm going to survive Christmas on a fixed income. Every year I end up waiting until the last minute and end up not getting what I would like to. This year I decided to change that and I have already started my christmas shopping. I was wondering when do you start Christmas shopping? Do you start early or are you a last minute shopper like I was?

I really hate Christmas shopping and I'm not big into the holiday as well, but I try to shop starting around now if I had the money, buying just for a few people.

Oh trust me I don't like the holidays much these days either. I think it comes with being a parent and never having the money needed.

@hillhjill Yes, exactly. For once I'd like to have an old fashioned christmas

@indiandevil That and the holidays are so overrated anymore and the more you spend the better is the way it is anymore.

I start Christmas shopping as early as October so that items are still cheap, because come Christmas time everything becomes expensive. I also try to add some shopping mid November but only small things and not so expensive items

This is the same reason I decided to start early this year. I've noticed the prices jack up during the holidays. Sad really that christmas has gotten so commercial.

I always start early, I have so many to buy for that I buy all year round. If I hear them say "oh I would love to have that" I write it down and get it.

I start shopping slowly for Christmas the day after we celebrate the one we are celebrating.

I wish I could do that. But, unfortunately I need a few months to recoup

We buy just for a few people, so it is not a big thing for me. I buy when I see something that I like at a good price.

To be honest, when I am on top of it, I start in January when Walmart and Kmart have all those 50% or 75% sales and I buy things for next christmas. What I usually do is I go to the store, get a tote and try to fill it. The last time I did this, I was able to fill the tote for $20 and I still have some of those presents. However, this year, I started in September and I feel like I am very much behind lol. I have chosen a few families that live close to my sister and am buying for their kids. Not any big items but little things. Last year my list was 20 people, all family. This year, at this moment, I am at 40 people and only have 18 people done. With Christmas being only 2 months away, I need to get my butt moving lol.
