Thanksgiving has always been a big family celebration in my family ever since I was a child. We've carried on the tradition throughout all the years and sadly many of our relatives are no longer with us. However, we continue to enjoy the holiday and say a prayer for those no longer with us.
Since my children are married my oldest daughter takes on the task of doing Thanksgiving at her house and always does a fantastic job.

We just gather the family together, we eat pretty traditionally, turkey, stuffing cooked in the bird, gravy, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes. No green bean casserole or sweet potato casserole. But I do use mashed potatoes in my stuffing to keep it moist. Chocolate cream pie is a must in our family.

That's really interesting about using mashed potatoes in your stuffing! How much do you use and what's your recipe?

@amadeo I tend to agree with you! I don't mind the cooking, but I sure do mind the cleaning up. I hope you find a nice place to go

Every Thanksgiving for the last twenty five years, my family and I eat out at a hotel in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. They have a buffet style meal every Thanksgiving there.
It makes it easy for us because we don't have to cook at home. And we love going to this hotel every year anyway.

For the past 8 or more years, we get together with my parents, sister and her family at a State Park that is an hour away and eat the great Thanksgiving Day Buffet they have. It attracts many people. We have to have reservations a year in advance.

I usually have Thanksgiving with my son..and friend..but I was thinking of possibly visiting my parents this year. I haven't been up there for Tgiving in years. I was just asking my sister what she was doing..and she does not know..because her kids are scattered around now..one in Baltimore and one in Cleveland, and both don't have much time off.

Our Thanksgiving tradition is gathering as a family and enjoying a nice meal made up of foods that are in season, squash, pumpkin pie, turkey and so on. We usually go for a nice drive in the afternoon to the pumpkin patch to get pumpkins to decorate with. This makes sense since we celebrate Thanksgiving in October.

We usually cook turkey family gathers but over the years we have less and less family. People have moved but mostly have passed.

Some years I've cooked a large, traditional US meal for Thanksgiving, but some years when the the kids were going to other in-laws, we'd just go out to eat. The older I get, the more I like to eat out. But I've always cooked a large feast for Christmas Eve and hope to as long as I have the health and energy to do it! The kids help some, but I prepare a lot ahead of time.
