Are Fruits To Be Really Eaten Before Meals?

There is a circulating post at Fb that fruits should be eaten before meals and that eating them after meals would make them rot in the stomach.
So, I did my reading from health experts' sites .
Dr. Shanker Pasupathy , Consultant, Department of Upper GI & Bariatric Surgery, Singapore General Hospital (SGH), a member of the SingHealth group, says that fruits can be eaten at any time and along with other foods. The body has digestive enzymes that helps digest mixed foods. Other than that it has hydrochloric acid that kills bacteria before it can reproduce, thus fermentation cannot take place inside the stomach.
You see, it is our custom at home to always eat fruits as dessert, after our main meals. Doing that has never made my stomach churn or ache at all. I also eat fruits anytime.
Specially mangoes, like that in the picture in google, I love eating them after meals.
Really, nowadays you have to be discerning and make some research whenever posts like this circulates.
Do you also eat fruits as your dessert after a meal?

We've been eating fruits before eating our meal. Eating fruit after meal leaves a sour aftertaste. We've been eating fruits before meals for quite sometime already and friends whom I taught about this were happy and said that they feel light on the stomach eating fruit before meals.

Oh, so you are one of those who advocates eating fruits before meal. Is there a scientific explanation into thinking that it is better to be eaten before meals @sunrisefan?
Eating a fruit after meal doesn't give me a sour taste though.
Well, maybe that is why you are still health yand look younger even when you say that you are already 95?
I might as well eat fruits before meal.

@SIMPLYD There's a scientific reason for that, Ms. LT, but I forgot what it was. What I'm sure is that it's very okay with us eating fruit ahead of the meal.

I also read about that too. I am confused because we grew up and learned to eat fruits right after the main meal is done. It acts as our dessert to finish a meal. And we have been doing that for so long that I really do not know if it has taken its toll on us eating fruits after every meal.

@SIMPLYD So far I haven't had any adverse reaction after eating that after a meal. Unless the fruit is already starting to decay then I guess we will have a reaction on it. But if it is fresh fruit I never experience anything that affects me at all.

Not every day since it’s also packed with sugar. But yes, I usually eat it after a meal.

Yes, i do that too. Specially that at the office, i take an early lunch during snacktime at 10:00. So much so, that at 12,:00 to 1:00, our lunctime, I just would eat a fruit , i bring to the office.
Really, you don't eat dessert after a meal. I am used to eating any sweet thing for dessert, even if i am a bit full. it could. be a candy or coffee (I have until 12:00 pm for coffee) but when at home it's a fruit.

Children can really be so excited when they see fruits that are their favorite. So much so, that if they see it already, they will eat it before meals. Well, they're healthy to eat so there's no problem.
Though, they would eat less of the main meal already.

@arunima25 Is that so? I think I have read that all fruits are alkaline not acidic. Though in my experience, when I eat pineapple on an empty stomach, it aches.

@SIMPLYD I avoid certain citric fruits on empty stomach. They cause acidity.

@SIMPLYD I agree with you. I pretty much eat what I want and when I want to. I have breakfast for supper and pizza or something like that for breakfast. Shucks, it is our stomachs and as long as what we eat or when we eat it isn't upsetting our stomachs then let's keep doing what we have for years.

I amn't in the habit of eating fruits as the dessert after a meal ,except eating an apple a day. However we are told not to eat persimmon on an empty stomach,or else you may get gastrolithiasis.
