Crochet Checkerboard Color Pooling

Creating the checkerboard effect also produced a diagonal striped design with this swatch.. A yarn with just two colors would be ideal for a checkered effect. Be sure each color repeat has the same number of stitches so that colors will evenly stack. Depending on color sequence of your yarn and length of colors a variety of checkered effects can be created.

I did. Some variegated yarns have fairly even color lengths but others don't. Either way getting a stitch count for each color then maintaining that count is helpful in creating patterns. If stitch count is only a stitch or two difference, then adjust your tension to get the same number of stitches per color. This app also helps a whole lot.

I tend to just use variegated colors when I want a little something random. Its not to hard for me to crochet/ switch yarns to get patterns!
