Has your checked in luggage ever been inspected by TSA on a flight

TSA apparently randomly opens and inspects luggage to be checked in. On an international flight 2 years ago I came home and opened my suitcase to find the courtesy note from them "Notice of baggage inspection". Nothing was removed and it was still neat. I was aware of such random checks, but still it felt weird that someone had inspected your belongings in my absence. Have you had this done to your baggage? How did you feel about it?

i thought they do it in your presence? i would be disturbed by it. i would probably prefer not to know, instead of feeling somehow betrayed/violated after the fact.

This is for checked in baggage after you check out in and before you get it back in the carousel at destination.

@hereandthere generally I just use cable ties or tsa approved locks. And they do have the authority to open locks to inspect at their own discretion.

@pitstop so they were able to open your luggage even if they're locked/secured?
