I quit

I quit my job just before noon today. Many contributing factors. My husband says he is glad I did. Too many people not acting as a team and acting like they know it all. My supervisor says she understands. I feel like a big failure. I want to cry. My blood sugars are up. My blood pressure is up. I come home in tears many times. Guess I will have more time to myLot.

How may I ask are you feeling like you are a failure? You quit a job that had no team work going for it and also your husband is glad that you did. It sounds like you did make a proper decision. I know it is hard to do that. Not knowing where you might go next to work could be a good challenge for you though. Change in some cases, is very necessary for us. No such thing as a perfect job but I have had jobs before that seemed more like working in a place full of negative feelings. I hope you do well on your next job or if you decide to just stay home for a while or whatever, enjoy your time off. You probably earned some down time. We all need time to regroup every now and then.

@lookatdesktop You write right things: her decision was smart and right so she doesn't need to feel like a failure. My ex-girlfriend had a job she liked but some workers there didn't like her, they made her feel bad, and she didn't hold on that job, she found a better job with better workers around her. Things can only get better from this point I guess.

If we had enough money I would LOVE to stay home. I have plenty to do. I feel like I let my supervisor down as she just told me yesterday how I had helped save her sanity. I always have a very hard time quitting a job. I feel burnt out, though. It is nice to be able to come here and get support from my myLot family as well.

Good point. One is not a failure if they leave a dysfunctional situation.

Sorry you've got to this stage but sometimes a job is not worth all the hassle. As you say your supervisor understands that says to me there is an issue there. Will you be looking for a new job or taking some time off ? PS...I don't think you are a failure as too many people stick at a job that ends up driving them into the ground and making them ill...sounds like you were going that way so getting out is good not bad in my opinion

Not sure what I shall be doing at this time. It will be alright, though. I would prefer to only work part time.

No way are you a failure, you actually took control of your life. I sort of felt this coming. I am glad you quit. You can find work that does not stress you out or make you cry.

Hubby said he wanted me to do this, but he wanted it to be my decision. Yes, money is a bit of a necessity, but we will do okay. Sent you a p.m. just now.

@GardenGerty Thank you. I know its hard not to have work, but its harder to be working and it make your mind and body suffer. You were headed for a break down.

Relax. Feel a weight lifted off. You can't stay someplace making you so unhappy and miserable. It'll kill you.

@hillhjill I had a job I loved until management changed there. I plotted and took education for a year while planning to quit there. I was twenty years younger then.

@stringer321 The first job I walked away from was Long John silvers. I loved that place for all the years I was there till new mgt took over and started treating me like crap and called me fat (long story) and it stressed me out. I handle it by talking to my husband and he told to do what I want. I walked out and didn't look back.

I'm sorry to read about the bad negative athmospher your workplace had. One of the basic things for a team to success is team work, communication and not to act like one knows it all. I understand you decided to quit your job. Did you make sure you have another job to work at ? I can't really help here but hope you will find a job with real friends there. Friends who encourage, complement each other, work as a team. Hand shakes hand. Don't let your blood pressure to go up from that incident, stay calm and positive.

@GardenGerty Yes, I start another job in November. But I felt that I needed to find another job because there are a lot of mean comments made to me after my workplace accident. Those cost the employer as their insurance rises, but an accident is just that, not intentional.

If the job you are with causes you great stress indeed I think its time to say goodbye to them and wish them luck in their careers there. I am a firm believer that one should be able to withstand the demands of their jobs but there are times that when the pressure is too much to handle that it breaks you as a person then that's the point where I would also do the same thing that you do.

I am sorry to hear that. Sometimes working is hard because you have to deal with different people. Some are kind and some are mean. I understand it is very frustrating to work with the mean people. Go out and have a walk to feel better. As they don't deserve to ruin your mood.

@GardenGerty Hopefully you can find a happier job. I would still be working at the thrift store if they had not changed managers. It was fun before that. But the new lady knew how to run everyone off, and those that she couldnt she found reasons to fire. I am glad I left it. Enjoyable jobs make it easy to go to work.
