The movie "The Post" related to current political climate

I just finished watching the movie "The Post". I believe it hits so many things that are concerning the social political climate today. It's so unbelievable how history repeats itself. In my opinion, Nixon is a definite example of what our current "leader"(I've stated in the past that I will always refuse to say his name) is doing today with his so called "fake news" outcry.
"The Post" was a movie about the "The Washington Post" in the time during the Nixon administration & the Vietnam war in the 1970's. With the way social media has dissolved the truth in the "news", no one is truly holding the current "resident" at the White House accountable for his actions. The fear and the unbelief of his followers of the "truth" has made it almost impossible to file impeachment charges against him. The movie "The Post" showed that Nixon did things against Congress' approval and the Superior Court stood with the newspapers when they were brought up on charges for leaking classified documents. Nixon wanted to shut down the media in reporting things that were possibly negative against him just like our current "leader" likes to say everything's "fake news" when things are reported negatively about him. In the movie the publisher and the editor of the time stood firm that the people had the right to know. The Superior Court stood with the constitution about the rights of freedom of speech. "The Post" was a good movie depicting things from history.
There's so much evidence that our current "leader" has been treasonous with dealing with Russians in the elections but still nothing is being charged on that front. There's evidence that he's cheated on his taxes among other things and still no charges have been brought up on these things. I just don't understand. Things were so much different in history when it came to holding government officials accountable. Money is more important now more than ever doing the right thing.

@TishaMears A few movies on such theme have been made in Bollywood too. But the thing is not so easy to do away in real scenario.

@TheHorse You might like the movie if you're into history and following the patterns of things then and now. And yes! Move for impeachment! I don't know why more people aren't speaking out on it. People may secretly think it but aren't crying out loud for it as in other unnecessary things that are going on today. I agree with @arunima25 below

@marlina Sometimes I don't like to watch the movie after I read the book. I may be too busy comparing the difference between the two and get disappointed. Hopefully, you will enjoy the movie

I think I saw that one. Tom Hanks is the lead? It took me a good way they the movie before I realized that was him.
I think there have been presidents on both sides that could have been held accountable for previous actions and impeached for current actions and none of them were made responsible either.

@TishaMears more outright blatant, yes but not any more wrong than those that never shared their thoughts.

@MarshaMusselman Yes. Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep were the lead in the movie. I agree about holding presidents accountable on both sides. I just feel that this so called one has been more outright blatant than the others.

There is much need for healing of souls and minds and hearts in these great United States of America. I hope we can work things out and make America great again even with all the polarization going on. It all begins with each and everyone of us. Good deeds beget more good deeds, Setting examples for others in a positive way is the best way to start the healing process. Sometimes we need a little time for introspection and that means, taking a look in the mirror at ourselves and asking this main question ... Before I say it, will it be THE TRUTH? - I hope so. being true to ourselves as basically good people, will make good things happen. Holding grudges and pointing fingers will only make it harder to heal as a nation.

Politics has never been as filthy as it has been in recent years and it is a truth all across the Globe. Politics by default has become a tainted job and we get only a handful of good politicians against the huge number of cons in the field.

@TishaMears The irony is that many people who are sensible and can bring a change choose not to vote. While the ones who choose to vote in my country are totally misguided by political dramas.

@arunima25 That is what is happening here in USA. I believe the reason why we have the fools in office at the moment because many uneducated people are voting. They believe what the politicians are saying at rallies and such. The so called knowledgeable people sometimes choose not to vote because they feel that their votes won't matter which can be true at times because it's mostly like choosing from two parties of the lesser of two evils... But when it really counts there are those who aren't even paying attention. The youth are sometimes caught up in playing on their cell phones or don't care.

@arunima25 Yes! Very well said. Things don't seem to be getting any better either. I almost understand why a lot of people don't care to vote because it seems it doesn't matter. At least 2 presidents here in USA got in against the popular vote. It's truly ridiculous.
