With the first Harvey Weinstein trials likely to collapse due to the evidence doing likewise, it seems 'professional litigants chasing money' are most of the claimants. Case one fell apart when i was revealed by lawyers that the actress in question had bragged in email and texts about giving Harvey oral sex in return for work. Another actress was instructed by her lawyers to 'get rid of those emails and texts; that may not help your case? I think most people suspected Harvey was an easy target for cash once the story broke and all this seedy case really did was expose Hollywood's sex for contracts underbelly..With an ever-supply of beautiful women and an under-supply of jobs there is only one winner here.
This tawdry tale around sexual abuse highlights a major issues around social media and text evidence in court trails. We have had a few mistrials here were women have accused men of rape and the guys phone data was not allowed in the court case but would later exonerate them on a retrial, showing the sex as consensual. This is not uncommon now. On the other side of the coin woman are reluctant to release mobile phone and social media records through the surrender of passwords as 'promiscuous talk' with other men may work against them in a court trial. Its hard not to disagree with that.
Its become clear in the celebrity abuse trials and sandal that followed that sexual favors you gave to get work back in the day are now a lucrative law suit shot that can get you a million bucks payout. We have a case in the UK right now where a billionaire businessman looking to protect his name has used the law and gagging orders to pay off ex staff who wanted to take him to court for various levels of abuse. It seems these guys are prepared to pay, however damming or not the evidence is. Was Weinstein allowed to go on for so long doing this as women simply wanted the cash all along?

Weinstein is destroyed forever professionally but he seems to be winning in court debunking his accusers. An issue that has not been addressed is the crime of these accusing women some of whom are famous keeping silent for the sake of career for decades and the opportunities they received in return. Their silence makes them guilty of enabling and selfishly putting their careers over other women. Gwyneth Paltrow told then boyfriend Brad Pitt of Weinstein's behavior and Pitt admitted having a confrontation with Weinstein about it. That was over 20 years ago and both Pitt and Paltrow maintained silence until after Weinstein's exposure. Had they spoken up then, perhaps other women would have been spared all these years.

I hope he doesn't get away with everything he's done. He's really not a nice man. It looks like a lot of the claims again Justice Kavanaugh as a rapist are falling apart. I am not at all surprised and hope all the people who lied end up in prison.
