Bland or spicy - how do you like your food

In our part of the world food is mostly cooked spicy with chillies and pepper in our daily diet. I cannot eat the meal if it is bland without spices. How is the food cooked in your home? As per your taste or you have had to adjust to the taste?

I only put some seasoning salt on my meat when I cook it for flavor. I do not want my food spicy or hot.

Some food does taste good with just the seasoning of salt. But our everyday cooking is always done with spices.

@mayka123 Salt is not good for health. We must not use salt if food, like salad, can be eat without salt

@anil02 I do not use excess salt in my food. And I rarely use salt in my salad. If I am making it only for myself I never put salt.

Here too in our province the people are fond of cooking their veggies in coconut milk with chopped.spicy chili. However if a house has residents who are not fans of spicy food, they cook it not spicy. It'up for those who wants it spicy to crush a Thai Chili in her share of the food to make it spicy.

@mayka123 Exactly, so I use spices if I prepare an Indian meal, but not all the meals from other countries ask for spices.

With age, we have toned down the spices, salt, sugar. I like the variety with limited spices, chilly and also more at times. I have adjusted to the bland food as life turns out bitter, at least as far as experiences are concerned, as we age. I am an eternal optimist though! I hear the children lament "why all tasty food is said to be unhealthy?" siva

This phrase of all tasty food is said to be unhealthy can be heard all over. Even my kids say the same. We are used to spicy food from childhood so we cannot do without it.

For me, it's bland every time! I can't stand strong flavours of any kind, and anything "hot" needs to be as mild as possible.

I definitely prefer my food to be a bit bland. Spice tends to upset my stomach, and "hot sauces" really are too hot for me.

The reason may be because you have not been having spicy food anytime. As kids we have grown up having spicy food and our stomach has got used to it.

I used to have Indian subordinates at work and being their boss didn't stop me from eating on the floor with them. We even went to beaches together and I think their food is very spicy and nice. But then i don't mind if a food is spicy or not. If it is healthy and tastes good.....why not?
