Tattoos, aye or nay?

My friend recently got a tattoo on her wrist (a matching tattoo with her best friend), it's very delicate and can be easily hidden with a watch or bracelet though.
I've always wanted to get a tattoo, but I've gotten different opinions about it; my mom says that companies won't hire me if I get a tattoo, my uncles say that people don't mind them anymore, my grandma says it's a sin, my aunt already has two.
I don't get a bad impression from someone just because they have a tattoo and don't think they are something that has an effect on their personality. Just because someone has a tattoo doesn't mean they are a bad person, a criminal, a rebel, a bad influence, etc. Of course, there are some tattoos that do mean it (like gang tattoos), but not everyone with one is inherently a bad person.
What are your thoughts?

I love tattoos and got my first one when I was 16. I'm about up to 30 of them now and still going.

Omg that's so cool! I also want several tattoos, if possible, although I don't think I can reach 30!

I don't care for them and really wonder what they'll look like when skin stretches and sags with age.

@MALUSE true, I have seen pictures of elder people with tattoo and it's not nice at all :(

I think it's others' decision to get a tattoo, and they shouldn't be judged on it, especially if one doesn't know the meaning behind said person's tattoo.. Personally, I'm not into tattoos, but if I were, I'd get something to honor my late Father.

@Skychrome Yep, as a way to keep them with them forever. I actually have an idea, but maybe I could put it on a t-shirt instead.

I agree, a lot of people get tattoos to honor loved ones such as parents and children.

I got four tattoos. One on my nape, one on my hip, and two on my shoulder blades. Now I thought you saw them in one of my bikini pics.

I agree with you that not everyone who get ones is a bad person...and I think they are great. I would love one, just haven't gotten one yet!

@leny34 sure, sorry, tbh stands for "to be honest" sometimes I'm a little lazy and typing haha. I meant it in a "imagine the thins you can do" way

It is becoming popular among the younger generations nowadays. Before they were considered as bad influence if you have them. Most of the criminals back then have tattoos that is why when you have one the first impression is that you came from prison or you've been involve in some kind of criminal syndicates. I think that is the general impressions before but I think it's slowly changing over time.

@Skychrome If you would ask me I am not amenable if it will be placed on my body. I think the pain and having it in my body permanently is something I do not feel comfortable at all. Although I appreciate some that I see on some one if done artistically well.

That's true, I do find this kind of perspective from older generations. Probably from the experience during their youth. I live in a third world country so big tattoos are sometimes frown upon because we can never know if it's some gang or so.

Oh yes, an allergic reaction would be really bad if it happened, sometimes it's better to prevent!

Thank you! That's what I've always thought, as long as I'm not hurting anyone it should be fine

It is, especially if it's somewhere people can see it easily, you have really like a message or image to get it permanently on your skin

tattoos are beautiful pieces of art. I love them but I'm not brave enough to get one lol. I do agree with your mom a little bit, though. if you get one make sure it's not in plain sight or at least very easy to cover up because many companies are strict about them not being visible to customers.

So far I've worked on places where tattoos were acceptable and most people had them on plain sight. But the company I work for now seems serious so it is a concern, I guess I'll find out their opinion on them when they see my friend's

My friends say otherwise but I have read that they can get infected, so I guess they could damage the skin

That's awesome, tattoos aren't for everyone, some people like to stay natural :)

I believe that a tatoo isn't bad too but I have never thought of having one.

That's understandable, tattoos aren't appealing to everyone and while some like seeing them, they don't want them on their skin

I don’t mind people getting a tattoo. It’s their life/skin anyways. If I am not diabetic, I’d surely have one.

Oh that's a shame, I didn't know you couldn't get tattoos if you're diabetic :(
