How did it go?

So this last Tuesday was the day of midterm elections. Oklahoma was electing a new governor, and judges on the Oklahoma Supreme Court were up for reelection, as well as judges for The court of Civil Appeals. In addition, we had about seven state questions up for vote. You better believe I voted. There really was no reason not to. I voted in absentee, which means I did it through the mail. Thousands did the early voting as so many places were open for it. The results of the election for my state pleased me. Sure, a few things weren't how I wanted, but on the whole I was pleased. My feeling is if you have the time to complain about your country you have time to vote. I mean you can do it from home, how much easier can it get? How did it end up for you? Were you happy with the results in your state? And non Americans, in your country's last election, we're you happy with how it turned out? I have a question for those in other states: do you elect the governor and lieutenant governor separately? We elect them separately and the option to change that was rejected in this past week's election. I mean I like that the President and Vice President of the United States are on one ticket, but I appreciate that we can have different parties as governor and lieutenant governor. I was wondering if that is how they do it in every state.

In Australia it is compulsory to vote. We can also lodge postal votes if we want to.

Both my candidates won, so yes, I was reasonably happy.

It's one ticket. I voted. We voted in a new governor, congressmen, and state assembly were up for election, plus we had some important issues to vote on as well. Only a couple people I voted for were elected or re-elected. We'll see how the newly appointed work out for the state.

In NJ the governor and Lt governor are on the same ticket so you vote them together just like president and VP.

Do you like that? I certainly like it for President and Vice President. I don't know why I prefer governor be different. I guess it's what I'm used to. Thanks for the information. That's interesting to me.

@AmbiePam I don't really care. I don't see that our Lt Governor does much of anything so the position is kind of pointless to me.

I cannot vote in Switzerland, I am Italian, so I receive the forms to vote when in Italy there are politic elections. We do not vote to elect the President in Italy, he is elected by an electoral college comprising the two chambers of Parliament (the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate of the Republic).

We didn't get the governor we wanted but I'm not surprised as out state tends to swing from one oats to the next and a republican had it most recently so it went the other way which is pretty common. It seems to do that with the outside many time too. As far as the vice-govenor I don't ever remember biting for one of those before.

We had provincial elections in September. The results were not clear....no one party had a clear majority. While initially it was a bit of a muddle in the long run a minority government is much better for the general population. There seems to be a much more balanced approach.
