Well I accomplished lot this morning. The weather was dismal and though it was a good time to bake. I am up very early.Had some apples left from the orchard. Peel, slice apples mix then load them up in the shell. Viola we have a wonderful apple pie.Still early and the sky seems to brighten up some.We left for Kittery Maine to get our supply of bread and rolls. It is only an hour driving there. Where Pig Fly is the name of the bakery. Stop at the library on our way home to get a book.

@amadeo The warm sauce served with the pie is very good. I usually make lattice top, it takes a bit more time.

@Marty1 It's a light custard made with egg yolks, sugar, vanilla and milk. It's very good.

I wonder why a bakery would call itself "Where Pig Fly" It is actually "Where Pigs Fly", with an "S".

@amadeo I never use sugar when I bake my fruit pies, just a little butter, and sometimes some corn starch and a little nutmeg or cinnamon-depending on the fruit.

@amadeo You are correct. My "cooking" is mostly a matter of adding fresh veggies to things that came frozen from Trader Joe's. I do make a good Stroganoff from scratch, though.

@amadeo I see, I love going on long scenic drives even without bread. Cherry pie is easy to make, just seed your cherries and cook them in sugar, then cook them in a pie crust.
