one of the smartest ape, orang utan, is indigenous to indonesia. they can be found in kalimantan (borneo) and north sumatra. the numbers in wild is decreasing fast, in case so many people trap them, kill them, catch them, and illegal logging.
peasants often hunt them when orang utan take some fruit in the farm.
it is very hard to see them in the forest. hopefully the next generation can see them in the wild.
by the way, orang utan literally means people of the jungle. orang men people, and utan means forest/jungle

These are wonderful animals. It is a shame that so much of their habitat is being logged and that people continue to hunt them. We have them at the Perth Zoo.
