Dreams that didn't pan out?

Life is life. Some things work out and some don't. We have successes and we have failures. Sometimes we play a part in it and feel that maybe we could have done something about it but sometimes things just happen and there was nothing that we could have done about it.
I was watching an episode of Nashville on Netflix, a program about country singers and their lives. Many songs are the product of events that happen in a person's life.
One lead character loses his wife as a result of a freak accident. Another character has a miscarriage.
We are pretty excited about something and then things don't go well and some dreams just don't pan out but a beautiful song comes out of it. Here is one such song about dreams that just don't pan out.
I have had a few in my life and yes, I did write a song about one sad event.

Life is about how we handle that failure.

Yes and some things are hard to handle. I remember when my ex-wife suffered a miscarriage. We were really looking forward to that baby and I would think of things we would do in the future but that dream never panned out and there was nothing we had done or that we could do.

@1hopefulman I'm sorry for what happened to you. There's nothing you could do in that situation. It maybe hard for you to move on with that.

@dave121495 It was about 20 years ago. I live my life but still wonder what life would have been like if the baby had been born.
I have this hope that one day, in another world, I will meet that unborn baby and be able to raise it. Maybe that dream will one day pan out after all?

Yes, we have no choice but to move on. However, we may still wonder what if and the dream of what could have happened lingers on. I think taht is the point of that song. Did you ever watch Nashville?

Yes, I wrote so many poems after my divorce. Of course, the same thing happens after beautiful and happy events. One of my favorite poems that I wrote was about the birth of my two daughters.

@1hopefulman True, the deeper the emotion the better the songs or poetry.

He sang it about his wife that he lost in a tragic car accident. Have you ever seen that show? Could you understand the words well?

@DianneN Yes, some sad things have been happening in your life. I actually did not view it as a sad song but a song of how to keep going and what to focus on when sad things happen. However, we may get different impressions of a song as music is very personal.

@1hopefulman No, I never saw that show, but of course I could understand the words. I've had enough sadness for a while, so right now prefer more upbeat songs and shows.

There are lots of things I wish were different or that had/had not happened in my life. I know, however, that "All things work together for good to them that love God", so I lean on that.

I have never had such dreams.
I am afraid of having dreams.
Such things as dreams live in our soul, and when our mind tries to have dreams of its own, these never will satisfy us, until we place them aside, and fulfill the real dreams of our heart, placed there by our soul for us to be living them from the seedpod of each dream's formation to its bearing fruit in our life, and so leading us to fulfilment, as such too.
Every dream of the heart will be fulfilled as long as we keep feeding them with love, and not with any other emotion, such as resentment, or fear.
Life goes to the lover, not to anyone else in this regard, and dreams are the same.
My problem then, is that I have mostly lived all of my life in my mind, and not in my heart.
This is why I have never fulfilled or felt fulfillment from any real dreams as yet in my life.
Poetry: Dreams and Faith
Love, life, and leaping over obstacles placed in front of you,
is not always possible, unless you have faith, connected to love.
Faith sees to the end past obstacles, so allows you to endure to the end.
Life goes on with or without you, so make the most of life while you have it.
The worst kind of pain is not being able to explain why you are in pain.
Only faith can ever begin to take this, and other types of pains, all away.
Our dreams then must connect to our faith to find their fulfillment in us.
If we try to dream our dreams only with our minds, we will never be satisfied.
Dreams must hook into a faith that is connected to love then, to be real for us.
Empty dreams never find anything at their end, because they had no light in them.

When are our dreams real? When are they just empty fantasies of our mind?

@innertalks You took the words right out of my mouth in that you have answered your own questions!
I'm going to say something that you might say.
We don't want to get lost in dreams but we want to find ourselves in dreams and find real love and most of all God who is love and who loves us so much.

Steve, you are amazing!
So many angles, so many points, so many directions, what shall I comment on???
Is there one specific point that you would like me to comment on?

@1hopefulman Thanks Hope, for your complimentary remarks.
Do you think I am right, that having "pipedreams" in our minds distracts us from our fulfiling the "real" dreams of our hearts?
Or, is it ok, sometimes for us to dream with our minds too, after all, we are only human?
Maybe, there is nothing wrong with dreaming to be something, at least, it encourages us to go on positively in our lives.
Some beginning chess players, for example, might dream in their minds to be one day a champion, a grandmaster.
This is ok, I guess, as long as it doesn't become an all-consuming passion, that takes us away from the perhaps more real and meaningful dreams that God has placed in our hearts to fulfil in our lives.
We should not become obsessed then with our minds in overly pursuing dreams, at the expense, of not reaching into our hearts, and following God's plans and dreams for our lives too.
I sort of answered my own questions there, but what do you think?

It is nice when you can create something beautiful from something tragic. I used to be fan of the show before it went to Netflix.

The show had some really nice songs! Since tragic events are part of life, might as well find a silver lining.
