Did you ever see this Christmas tree? Number 4

My image is from Facebook. But yes, I made some of these trees.
As our family got older, putting up a real tree, or even an artificial tree, was almost too much work. Or, some people liked to have extra little trees around.
I used to go to a ceramic shop and make things. I made three, I believe.
One was for my in laws. One for my mom, and one for my dad.
In keeping with wanting to be different and special, my mom asked me to make hers pearlized white, with red plastic birds instead of plastic Christmas lights.
On the green trees, during the glazing process, we brushed on a glaze that would become puffy and white. We did that after we had put on the green glaze.
The method for the tree to light was this. A socket for a full sized regular light bulb was threaded through the bottom of the tree. It had a cord with an inline switch. The plastic "lights" are transparent, and are glued in holes that were made when the ceramic tree was still "greenware", that is unfired poured clay. The plastic lights were glued in after both firings of the tree.
So, there you have it. Pull your tree out of the box and plug it in. You are done, except for the presents. I am not to that point, yet.

They continue to be popular. They are both practical and beautiful. I have seen some that were about three feet tall.

No, I am not ready yet. We will have Thanksgiving this week, then everyone who is not out shopping or traveling will pretty much put up their decorations. We will be traveling. For me it will be a continuing process.

@GardenGerty We have a meeting in Italy on the 21st and another on the 26th of November. We still do not know if we will have a quiet month of December, I hope so.

I have one. It was my mother's. The one in your pic looks to be taller than mine.

We could make them smaller and taller when we made them at the shop. They were poured in stacking sections.

This is just a picture that belonged to someone else. I am sure they could be mass produced, but the ones I made I did the pouring of the ceramic slip, cleaned all the seams, drilled the holes. Then I had it fired, then glazed it, stacking layers together so they would fire together permanently.. Once it was glazed I selected the lights and glued them in and put the wiring in. It did make it easy for those family members to be festive.
