Clearing the Road

Canada
November 18, 2018 5:53pm CST
Started my day off fixing my chainsaw so that I could deal with the problem in the photo. This one wasn't interfering with the power lines so I could happily take care of it myself. It wasn't actually blocking the road yet. Most vehicles could comfortably drive underneath it but there was no way it was going to stay in that position like that for very long. That was just part of my busy day. I introduced a new colour for my hair sticks on my website. I wasn't happy with the colours I had available for my cherry wood. I finally found a stain that I felt not only looked good but looked like a cherry finish. Did other stuff too and now I'm beat. Hope everyone on the lot is doing well.

If only everyone had the same mindset as yours, the world would be a better place to live in.

Around here we generally take care of ourselves. Most of the residents here own a chainsaw and know how to use it.

You got a lot of snow, we only had a little bit, not enough to be a problem.

Yeah, all of a sudden it was winter. We got that all in one storm, before that we had nothing. I'm expecting it all to melt again. We don't usually get this much snow in November that stays the winter. What we have right now really isn't a problem. If you listen to the weather people you might think otherwise but in this country, if you can't handle this you should probably just start hibernating.

@LadyDuck It is possible to get snowed in here but it doesn't happen very often. Eventually, the ploughs come and dig the roads out. It takes quite a storm for that to happen though.

@koopharper It's the same here, a user from India asked how we commute when it snows. Well, we get in the car and drive, as every other day. We all have snow tires her in Switzerland.

Lots of responsibility there. I am sure travelers are thankful to have it cleared.

In our neck of the woods, one of the locals like myself takes care of stuff like this long before the authorities would even think of doing it. It was just my turn this time. During our bad windstorm a couple weeks back someone else had to clear one off the main road coming this direction. Technically the township would have taken care of that one but no one here is willing to wait that long.

Phew, you had a busy day! My day wasn't as busy as yours but I did spend hours outdoors chasing my toddlers. Lol. And chores got done too of course.

I've chased toddlers outdoors before. That would've tired me out more than what I did today.

Haven't heard from you for a while but glad things are going well. That's a pretty track or laneway or whatever.

It looks a lot nicer with snow on it. Before the snow, it was a very long messy mud track. I don't really have time to myLot in earnest but I check in quite regularly. Don't want to completely lose touch.

You can keep the snow! My dad put my snow tires on my van on Friday (so I can comply with my insurance discount), and there was a little bit of snow on the ground. It has since melted and I am hoping we don’t see too much too soon. They are calling for more snow than last year.

I believe we've broken the record for snowfall in November here. It has pretty much stuck around too. The old record was set in 2014 and it all melted then. Really fast. There was some pretty serious flooding in the area that time around.
