How to sound like native speaker of English?

I'm studing English now. I want to improve myself. But I don't know how. My teacher told me to watch TV shows like Friends or Breaking Bad. I like them. And I learnt a lot. Also I want to improve my writing skills. I was told to read newpapers like CNN. Do you think it is OK? I'm afraid that my writings look like news...

Do you want to have an American or a British accent? And do you want to learn American or British colloquialisms? That is a choice you will have to make when it comes to watching TV and reading newspapers!
