There were cultured pearls and therefore cheaper than real pearls but expensive compared to simulated pearls I had them all Wearing pearl chains was in during my young days. There were single, double triple rows as also ropes. These simulated pearls came in different colours. I was working for a simulated pearl manufacturing company who had beads in different shapes and colours.I got them all free. I would wrap them round my hair, wear them round my waist and ofcourse round my neck as well. Those were the days

@LadyDuck Blaxk and pearls - what a combination I was robbed of my gold ornaments a long time ago. I decided not to make any more for me. I have no craving for it any more.

@allknowing I have sold most of my jewels except my diamond ring and the pearls. I wear the pearls when I wear a little black dress.

@allknowing I do, lol, including the pearl necklace I bought myself for an anniversary gift. My husband was not happy, and told me HE'S the one who will buy me jewelry for gifts.

Thats like a blast from the past! I bought my most recent pearls in Singapore about seven years ago. I bought two sets but rarely wear them now.

Pearls never go out of fashion but there was a time when Queen Elizabeth was talk of the town when everyone aped her.
