Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate it, I hope you all get to spend quality time with your families today and make wonderful memories.
We celebrated our Thanksgiving last Sunday, reason being that my son and his family drove up from CO and surprised me on Sat. morning. It was so nice seeing them and they could only stay until Monday night. We went straight to the store on Sat. and purchased everything we needed for Thanksgiving dinner and prepared it all on Sunday.
We had some of our neighbors come celebrate it with us and I had all my children with me for the first time in 3 yrs. It was so wonderful to have them all together since their brother passed, I felt so blessed to have them.
That being said, I got to sleep in this morning and it is a relax day for us to do what we want now. I think I will go shopping for Christmas tonight!!
Have you ever been surprised by your loved ones like that and had the holiday on a different day to accommodate?
The pic is of my son, his wife and me in the middle.

That's a really great picture, you can really see the warmth and love in all of your smiles.
Our son totally surprised me one day and between him and my husband he made the long 4 hour trip from university to our place. I had just gone to bed, and he walked in and started talking, I thought that I was dreaming, and then said out loud, no don't stop speaking, I feel like its real and I miss you so much. He jumped on our bed and started hugging me.
Nothing better then a son surprising his Momma is there?
Happy Thanksgiving.

Haha, no there isn't Julia, sounds like yours gave you a wonderful surprise as well. I was sleeping when they came in and the girls jumped on my bed. I too was so surprised and was the visit I truly needed. They drove 13 hrs to get to us so they drove all night.

@DianneN I told my husband that with the price of postage on packages, that it would be cheaper to just drive the Christmas gifts back to CO for them, gonna have to make a road trip back home. He said, uhhh better plan well or you will be driving in snow. Probably but at least I can go for a few days.

It was wonderful Carol, this is my only son I have left and it meant the world to me for them to come and spend time with me.

Glad you all got to be together. We often had Christmas on different days while my parents were alive

Thank you, I don't mind it being on different days, then I don't feel so rushed when the real day comes.

A lovely family photo! We ate yesterday so our son and grandson could eat with us. You're right that it's more important to be with family than to care which day it's on.

When they were young I always had to work on Holidays so we had the holidays on my days off, never the correct day and it was just as good. Sounds like you had a wonderful day as well with your son and grandson, I love family get togethers any way I can get them.

I am so glad you had a full family especially after your loss.
I lost my father 4 months back and I know how good I feel when we all get to be together with our mom.
There is comfort , there is gladness...In being together , and even in the arguments that a family has

Thank you, I am sorry for the loss of your father, it is very hard to get through regular days let alone holidays without them. I moved just a year ago and this was the first time my son was with us in our new home. It was nice to have my remaining son and daughter both with me.
