Besides looking at the best before dates, I look at the product itself. Its frustrating to buy foods that have already expired. I once threatened a manager in a supermarket and they had to give me back my money

I think you did the right thing and only am sorry that you got such a bad deal. I bought and drank spoiled chocolate milk at a local grocery store and I got food poisoning from drinking it and was sick as a dog for the next several hours.

I will not buy reduced fruit or veggie trays in the store any more. I heard they cut off the parts that have mold and repackage them and sell them in the produce section of the store at a discount and this is unethical and dangerous for the consumer.
