Friends with Benefits: Why we seek after someone's hand and not the face(inner person)?

Last night i gave a gift to an old colleague and she was sort of amazed at the gift and couldn't believe someone made such a gift for her, yet later i realized she wasn't amazed at me for doing that nor appreciated me, that old colleague just took the gift but not me... It is like the people following Jesus for the fishes and loaves, but not for Him. We rarely seek someone for the person, to know the person, how he or she is like, all we want is to take pleasure out the person, Basically we are friends with 'benefits' with people and God.

Well when we give, we give because we want it. I know your point and i was like that too, thinking that these people just wanted me because of the things i gave. But a friend of mine advised me, when you give, dont expect anything in return or think something against him. Just like God Jehovah, He gives us air we breathe but He never thinks that we are just His friends for benefits. Doing your part of giving will make you happy.

True, after all the Word of God says giving is better than receiving.

@Janet357 Amen, once i felt very happy for taking time to listen to people in a supermarket. I gave my attention to them and in return i was happy.
