What makes a certain song pop into your head?

This morning, before my first cup of coffee had brewed, I fired up my computer, looked outside to see that my truck was still there, and said, to myself, "Hmm, looks OK." The words "Looks OK" did it. I immediately found myself singing (in my head) "Wondering Where the Lions Are," by Bruce Cockburn. The first words of that song are: "Sun's up/looks OK/the world survives into another day..." Does this kind of thing happen to you? Sometimes when I'm watching children laugh, the David Crosby song "Laughing" pops into my head. But for now, "Wondering Where the Lions Are" is my morning ear worm.

@wolfgirl569 They'll take you away before me...if we're in the same room.

Sometimes the songs are only in my head. Other times I break into song. That's when I worry that people will think I'm nuts.

No but the minute a dinky little tune comes on a commercial or on the radio, it gets stuck in my head for the rest of the day.

That's when listen to something else over and over and sing along.

@cintol I hope you find decent songs that erase horrific ear worms.

@TheHorse Good plan, I will have to try that but I only listen to the radio usually when I am in the car.

Often the song on the radio when the alarm went off would stick in my head...al day. I learned to really dislike the song..."Red Solo Cup!" What a song to find yourself singing all throughout the day.

I don't think I've heard that song. Perhaps it's a good thing.

@Morleyhunt I take it I shouldn't bother looking for it on YouTube?

Funny, I just posted my first post of the day and it is about a song I think about when I am happy. Our moods dictate what we listen to, or it does with me. And yes, I can hear certain words and all break out in song. Feels like I am losing it on some days. Glad you do the same.

@Nevena83 Right now I have the "You're on hold and have been for half-an-hour" song in my head. I'm going to have to change that.

When I see your profile photo . . . I think of the Mr. Ed song - even though it's a bit before my time .
This video is about Mr. Ed the talking horse.

Do you keep it in your head? Or wind up singing it out loud?

Me neither! I keep that photo on my desktop and look at it occasionally when I need a smile. I'm glad I brought my camera to the preschool that day. I usually don't.

I just uploaded Wondering Where the Lions Are to my post. It's a happy song, so I don't mind if it sticks with me through the rest of the day.

I just put it in the post. It's happy one, though the lions are always there. Laughing is a great song as well.
