so, we reheated this frozen leftover (cooked last week) and i happily enjoyed again how delicious it was. however, i've forgotten the name of this dish, so i just typed the ingredients on google (tripe garbanzos tomato sauce, no commas) then hit enter. result? callos. wikipedia defines callos as "a stew that contains beef tripe and chickpeas, blood sausage and bell peppers. Chorizo sausage may also be used." actually, i first had to type "tuwalya ng baboy" on google because i forgot the english term for it. result? tripe. but it seems that "tuwalya" actualy comes from "baka" (cow/beef), not "baboy" (pig/pork). oh, well! "tuwalya" actually means towel. i guess it was named that way because that's how the texture of the stomach looks like! garbazos or garbanzo beans are also called chickpeas. so that, my fellow mylotters, is how i search online when i can't remember, or want to know, the name of a dish, dessert, drink, etc. i just had, saw, read or heard about. do you also have dishes that use tripe, or do you avoid non-meat parts? do you also search dishes, desserts, and drinks online, even just out of curiosity?

I like tripe dishes, however, my hubby doesn't like it much because it might raise his uric acid which sometimes go beyond the normal. I haven't cooked callos. I will try this also. Do you put chorizo de Bilbao for this. It is a bit expensive ingredient.

someone else cooked it. i was surprised when i read that it's supposed to have bell pepper because i didn't see nor taste any, but it was still yummy to me.

Ox tripe? Pinapaitan, kare kare and goto... I haven't tasted callos yet but I had seen how it's cooked on TV. Sometimes I search what dish I can cook with my ingredients in the fridge but usually, I just experiment... Then afterwards, I will find out that there is actually a dish like what I cooked...

i've done that, too - just type what's in the kitchen to get some ideas. i've never had pinapaitan. i guess because i don't know what it looks like and scared it might be bitter! yes, i've had kare-kare and goto with ox tripe.

I told Siri a line from a song, just one sentence and she completed the rest of the lyrics by reciting it to me. We are lucky to be living in this age of technology.

@toniganzon yeah, when we're in an uber or grab car, we would answer the phone to give the driver a different direction, as if the phone is also a passenger

Yes, we eat tripe here in the south of Switzerland and also in Italy. Sometimes I check online, but I prefer to have a look to my printed books.

i always get curious at how a fruit, vegetable, food, drink etc looks like and how they're made. it's also interesting to see videos of different ways of cooking, baking, steaming, etc. using pressure cookers, rice cookers, toasters, etc.

Sometimes we key in ingredients and see what comes up. It's a good way to get ideas for recipes. My mother loved tripe and I would cook it for her but I've never tried it.

@JudyEv people say to use the incognito mode, but that can be hard when you're trying to remember something you searched before

tripe is in the Ilocano dish 'pinapaitan'. we call that 'twal-twalya' and my third brother cooks that dish perfectly.

I thought it was white gram by the look of it but if it contains any meat, I would prefer to stay awy. I know frozen food is tasty and can stay good for sometime in your fridge though.
