My cake didn't go well

Have you ever been in a situation where you did your best but the result wasn't as you expected? This is my case. I went out today and bought some ingredients to make a home made cake for my family. I swear I did what it was required for this cake to be the best that I have ever made, but it didn't work out. I mixed all the ingredients as the recipe said and put all the exact quantities, and the oven temperature was right. Once I put the cake out of the oven and cut a slice and it didn't have the high-altitude It had to have. In conclusion it didn't go as i wanted to. I am disappointed by the result. :(

Did you find the recipe online? If you knew how many times those who publish recipe online do not try them.

@jvicentevalera I would suggest a video on YouTube, because it's useful to see also the procedure in addition to the ingredients used.

@jvicentevalera We learn from our mistakes. When it doesn't taste so good just put some ice cream on it and no one will know the difference.

You are right @1hopefulman I think when I made that cake I was to eager for the result that I didn't put my attention on the process that's why I failed. Next time I will do it better, I promise.

Not all online recipes are good ones. Some people just make videos and blogs to make money by making a few changes to others recipes.

Once in a while things don´t come out as expected. I´m a good cook yet, only last week, I made a rice that was not my idea of a good rice.

Marguicha, so sorry to hear that. I know what it feels like. I got a question how did you feel at that moment? didn´t you feel a little disappointed? Maybe I overreacted but when it comes to bake cakes I take it seriously.

Well, things happens. Nothing can ever be perfect in this world. You just have to face it. Accept the fact that you tried your best, and choose whether you will redo it or leave it at that. Do I sound like a preacher babbling nothings over a bad cake? Well, I bake sometimes and I get you. That's it.

@shaqziad1610 I really feel your words and totally agree with you. Nothing can be perfect. I will try harder next time and show you all a piece of cake lol. By the way you don't sound like a preacher babbling nothing over a bad cake at all, you sound like a wise person trying to help others to face the reality so they get up and continue on! Thank you so much for doing that!

Aww I am sorry to hear that. It has happened to me at times as well usually when baking things from scratch so then I know it is some ingredient I missed. I wonder what could have gone wrong with yours.

@shaggin I would like to find out what ingredient I missed or how much I had to add. Next time I will document myself more and succeed. In fact I will dedicate my cake to you all lovely people who commented! But in the depth of my heart I felt disappointed cause I put so much love on making it, but practice makes perfect! :)

That's a shame. Maybe you just need more practice. Some cakes can be hard to get just right. Did it taste nice?

Do not worry, it's happening. It happened to me a couple of times. Sometimes you do not need to read recipes, it takes the experience to do some things better than it is written in the recipe. It will be better next time.

Yes, I tried to make pancakes the other day and they wouldn't set. I have made them a few times before with no problem. I had to scrape the soggy mess out and throw it away!
